JOIN OUR NEWLY ESTABLISHED DEPARTMENT ON DEAL ADVISORY & DUE DILIGENCE IN LYNGBY
COWI experiences an increasing advisory demand by international investors and project developers targeting the buy or sell of green transition assets e.g. within PtX, wind, solar, bioenergy and CCS. To strengthen our position in the market, a new department opens its doors in COWI's Energy International business unit.
The new department aims to enable clients to realise long-term value, with a forward-thinking approach to deal planning and execution, considering key risks, opportunities, and business results. It works closely with clients to determine which prospective deals offer the most potential, based on COWI's deep sectoral knowledge, underlying market dynamics, economics, and engineering.
The Deal Advisory & Due Diligence Department is the hub of COWIs global end-to-end transaction buy or sell advisory, including all aspects of technical, financial, market, regulatory and ESG and sustainability due diligence, as well as capital raising.
It aims to enable clients globally to progress towards their strategic goals and to make timely and evidence-based decisions by thoroughly assessing a target's full potential and thus enabling long-term value creation aligned with the green transition. It collaborates with private equity and institutional investor clients across the investment life cycle, from deal generation and due diligence to portfolio value creation and exit planning.
STRATEGIC IMPORTANT ROLE
In the position of a Lead ESG & Sustainable Finance Expert, you will play an integral role in enabling the success of our clients and ensuring they are on track to meet ESG & sustainability targets. You will further work on generating growth through early-stage project services in the energy sector – services that will be delivered in close co-operation with specialists across COWI. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary specialists bringing comprehensive international knowledge within Power-to-X, wind, solar, bioenergy and CCS assets. With a clear focus on critical issues, you will act as a sparring partner to COWI’s clients with the willingness to convey hard messages when necessary.
In this position, you will be the key point of contact on all ESG & sustainability aspects in relation to a prospective deal. You will own and drive due diligence initiatives with other COWI experts. You will work closely with our new VP for the area, as well as Director Ivo Georgiev. The position involves multi-stakeholder collaboration across the COWI group.

- Lead buy-side and sell-side transaction advisory engagements, providing ESG & sustainability performance due diligence assistance
- Analyze ESG performance data, potential liabilities and risks, which have a potential impact on the valuation and negotiation of a target company
- Deliver technical sustainability analyses, including related to carbon footprinting, climate mitigation potential, science-based targets, net zero roadmaps, materiality assessments, and life cycle assessments
- Create and design tailored transaction advisory reports specific to key ESG issues such as environmental performance and compliance
- Be a primary point of contact and act as a trusted advisor in all ESG and sustainable finance and aspects related to a prospective deal and timely communicate the findings internally, and to the client
- Support the growth of the due diligence team by effectively sharing knowledge on best ESG & sustainability approaches, data and tools
- Support the identification of new potential commercial opportunities and contribute to the department’s growth journey

To thrive in the position of Lead ESG & Sustainable Finance Expert you should be a team-oriented person with a solid strategic and commercial mindset. Further, you are committed, confident and a skilled communicator.
The ideal candidate will further bring:
- ESG & sustainability experience, and insights into regulatory standards within sustainable investments e.g. the EU Taxonomy on Sustainable Finance, EU Green Bond Standard, UN SDGs, ASTM standards, SASB, UNPRI, TCFD, CDC
- Experience with early-phase project development, due diligence, M&A, or capital raising
- Ability to drive complex content work in a busy environment and to multi-task and continuously re-prioritize with new developments
- Demonstrated project management skills with multidisciplinary scope and reporting
- Experience with the energy and renewable sector (e.g., offshore wind, hydrogen, Power-to-X and carbon capture) is desired, but not a required if the other criteria are fulfilled
