Strong people manager to resume responsibility for process and technology department to support Ferrosan Medical Devices A/S development portfolio
At Ferrosan Medical Devices, we develop and manufacture medical devices used to stop bleeding incidents during surgery. We have a long and successful history in doing so and our products are widely recognized as being among the best in the world. We continuously work at improving what we do. This includes ongoing optimization of our existing products, systems and processes as well as creation of new and innovative products to support unmet market needs.
At Ferrosan Medical Devices in Søborg, Copenhagen we are app. 240 employees working across a full value chain covering everything from research & development to manufacturing including all necessary support functions. The company is growing, and our products are marketed and distributed in more than 100 countries worldwide by our strategic partner Ethicon – part of Johnson & Johnson.

Technology Innovation
The department is organized within Operations – in line with two other departments - Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management. As head of Technology Innovation, you will refer to the VP of Operations and be part of the Operations management team. The department consist of app. 10 highly skilled academics with strong technical skills within device design and development, materials, processes, validation etc. The main responsibility of the department is to provide technical and process expertise to the development projects at Ferrosan Medical Devices thus ensuring the right input to make decisions supporting product functionality, manufacturability, quality and cost.
Technology Innovation works closely with New Business Development (R&D) and employees are in addition to their line reference all part of one of more innovation projects (matrix organization). In addition to participation in the projects the department should also support establishment and improvement of standards for device development and for technical and process decisions incl. understanding and monitoring of technological possibilities in the market - all supporting the effectiveness of device development at Ferrosan Medical Devices.
Finally, the department will also play a role in supporting the technology transfer and ramp-up of processes and equipment at suppliers or in the in-house manufacturing as well as play a role in the support of products through their life cycle.
The job
As Director for Technology Innovation your primary role will be to lead the employees in the department and set direction for establishing and improving the needed to systems, tools and methods to support innovation projects.
You will support your employees through sparring on decision making, ongoing prioritization and removal of roadblocks. You will ensure that the right competences are available and utilized efficiently across projects and operation. You will ensure competence development of your employees and if needed and possible recruitment of missing competences.
Collaboration internally in Operations and with peers across the organization is an essential part of your job. You will on an ongoing basis interact with project managers, managers (peers) and employees in other parts of the organization to support progress on projects and tasks.
In our projects we aim at having rapid development iterations to fail and learn fast. We work with agile project management and lean is an integrated part of how we work – e.g., via daily performance board meetings and structured problem solving.
You will manage your area based on respect and humility and a strong focus on continuous improvement. You will be guided by the strategy of the company and our drive to focus on value creation for our customers.
Your profile
You have a relevant academic degree e.g., within engineering. You have ideally worked within the medical device and/or pharma industry and have a solid understanding of GMP and ISO13485. You have at least five years of management experience from e.g., product development, manufacturing development, manufacturing or other relevant areas.
You are a strong people manager, and you lead through respect and humility. You have a strong focus on ensuring an ongoing dialogue with your employees to drive performance and development of the individual and the organization.
You are focused on creating results and it is natural for you to think and live continuous improvement through a lean mindset. You thrive in a busy and changing environment and have a strong ability to establish a common overview and direction for your area.
You have a strong focus on balancing short- and long-term plans and targets and on ensuring effective stakeholder cooperation via effective collaboration. You communicate effectively at all levels and in both Danish and English.
