As a member of the R&D New Product Development (NPD) organization, you will be joining a journey of growing and renewing Danfoss’ broad product portfolio; and you will be the key player in ensuring that products are matching customer requirements with respect to performance, cost and quality. Furthermore, you will be the core expert in all matters related to electrical motors (e.g. stepper motors) and actuators (e.g. solenoids) used in Danfoss’ range of control valves for refrigeration.

Job Responsibilities

The Global Specialist team is a small group of highly dedicated specialists covering critical technology areas and you will be the go-to person in all matters related to actuator technology. You will be supporting broadly across our R&D function, including the NPD teams in 6 global sites, Danfoss technology innovation teams and the engineering teams supporting the product portfolio. You will be partnering closely with the system controls team, which is responsible for the internal development of controllers and software driving our electromechanical components. Externally, we expect you to utilize your network to bring in critical new insights and support in solving your tasks. You can expect approximately 20 days of travel per year - primarily to customers, laboratories, partners and suppliers.

You will have three focus areas of applying your deep knowledge and bringing it to use for the global organization. First, is the support of our organization from fostering new ideas, implementing actual products through development projects on to supporting Danfoss engineering across the market lifecycle. Second, is to gather and build the knowledge base across Danfoss product’s individual life cycles to know relevant loads, requirements and mission profiles for motors and actuators. Third, is to maintain a long-term perspective on future technology development and possibilities where Danfoss can exploit in their products

Background & Skills

To be considered for this position, you must have a master’s degree in electrical engineering or similar educations combined with a technical aptitude, as well as strong communication and collaboration skills. We expect you to document:

  • Min. 5 years’ experience of working with electrical motors and actuators – preferably stepper motors.
  • Have both a theoretical and a practical approach.
  • Experience with Electromagnetic simulations 2D/3D would be an advantage.
  • Dynamic modelling in simulink or similar software would be an advantage.
  • Experience with quality tools as FMEA or design for Six Sigma.
  • Collaboration and network within relevant industrial or academic environments.
  • Experience with cross cultural teams in multiple locations.
  • Fluent and comprehensive in English.
