DanChurchAid (DCA) invites applications for a Projects Officer (Trainee level) for our Iraq Programme. This is a non-family duty station.
The DCA Iraq programme is a relatively new programme starting to build its footprint in the country, with 21 staff working closely with 3 national partners. The programme is comprised of a portfolio of activities in northern and central Iraq including Humanitarian Mine Action, Livelihoods, Education, Psychosocial Support and Protection related activities.
The Projects Officer will report to the Programme Coordinator. and assist with communication, planning and delivery of humanitarian activities in Iraq. The role will have a specific focus on supporting Protection, Livelihoods and Education projects implemented through national partners.

Main responsibilities:
Project Support
- Support the DCA Protection Officer and DCA PSS Officer on the delivery of protection, PSS, education, and livelihood-based projects
- Support partner organisations in monitoring, reporting, and QA of data
- Support capacity building activities for national partners
- Provide support to grants management and assist in ensuring that protection projects are in compliance with donor regulations, grant support agreements and DCA internal policies.
- Contribute to relevant proposal development as required
Coordination
- Attend and actively participate in relevant inter-agency coordination and clusters meetings on behalf of DCA
- Coordinate with INGO support bodies at national levels
- When requested attend UN sponsored working groups to share DCA progress and updates
- Stay informed and current on latest coordination mechanisms at local and national level
- Actively engage with community, regional and national stakeholders in relation to project activities
Media
- Support the DCA Iraq media efforts, in particular with regard to social media
- Document sector case studies and beneficiary stories from projects/ partners for sharing with donors, DCA media and other relevant actors
- Assist with the design and coordination of communication campaigns in support of DCA Iraq and partner projects.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Work in accordance with DCA values and humanitarian principles
- Maintain effective working relationship with other members of the programme
- Being a role model for diversity and inclusion, as well as a positive role model for contributing to the team spirit
- Actively support in the mainstreaming of gender in all project activities.
Applicants must have the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor level degree in Politics, Social Sciences, or related subject
- 1-3 years’ experience in project management, project support or grants management ideally within a humanitarian context
- Computer literacy essential including proficiency in Word, Power Point and Excel
- Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic would be advantageous
- Previous experience in Iraq is highly desirable.
