Comet Bio, based in Canada and the US, recently announced an investment with RE Energy in Denmark, to build a dedicated manufacturing facility in Kalundborg. RE Energy, will upgrade and expand its existing facility in Kalundborg to supply over 4 million kilograms of Comet Bio's Arrabina prebiotic fiber per year.
RE Energy will operate the new facility, but Comet Bio needs a local Operations Manager to lead and supervise the establishment and management of the facility.
You will be working with RE Energy as Comet’s lead manager to execute operations with excellence.

RE Energy will operate the new facility, but Comet Bio needs a local Operations Manager to lead and supervise the establishment and management of the facility.
You will be working with RE Energy as Comet’s lead manager to execute operations with excellence.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Facility construction, completion and integration with the existing RE Energy facility
- Startup and ramp up of operations
- All transportation and logistics management for the finished product
- All manufacturing scheduling
- All manufacturing QA/QC management, including ensuring compliance to finished product specifications all along the supply chain
- Ensure that all local toll processors adhere to manufacturing standards (i.e. ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, SQF, BRC) as required, in collaboration with Comet´s Canadian Product and Regulatory Manager
- Manage all final product analysis from outside laboratories for quality assurance in collaboration Comet´s Canadian Product and Regulatory Manager
- Full documentation of all products/batches/lots for FDA compliance, in collaboration with Comet´s Canadian Product and Regulatory Manager
On your agenda will also be:
- To establish operations KPIs with a total cost perspective with a lean manufacturing mindset
- Generate reporting system to provide internal stakeholders with actionable data regarding production and delivery status and inventory levels by product
- Work with Comet´s Canadian Product and Regulatory Manager to implement audit and compliance systems for FSMA, GM free, organic and other certification schemes as necessary for customer acceptance including product recall plans
- Collaboratively work with internal partners to manage the operation, food safety and food quality expectations
- 10-20% travel activity to contract toll manufacturers mostly within the EU.
Qualifications
- You most likely have a degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemical/Food Engineering, Operations or Supply Chain or relevant industry experience
- +10 years of food ingredient manufacturing expertise
- Experience within facility/plant operations and expansions
- Management of contract manufacturing operations
- Project Management experience related to facility expansion
