About the team:

We are looking to strengthen our small and agile Innovation team within the R&D organization with an experienced Product Development Innovator who is passionate about innovation processes, idea generation and process optimisation.

The team is responsible for delivering new product ideas and concepts focusing on machine roles cigars, MYO, RYO and pipe tobacco. We like to say that we are an open-minded team who build on ideas and see opportunities/solutions where others see problems.

The team is globally located, and you will report to the Head of Innovation.

What you can expect as a Product Development Innovator (EU) at STG:

• Facilitating the innovation process, idea generation and process optimisation until the project is transferred to the deployment team
  
  
• Reengineering competitor products, while demonstrating outside-of-the-box thinking
  
  
• Providing innovative ideas to support newest market trends and turn them into successes
  
  
• Scanning and understanding what opportunities exist at packaging suppliers
  
  
• Maintaining close contact with the salesforce and marketing to pick up emerging trends at an early stage
  
  

• Evaluating and recommending innovation trends (short and long term) and innovation opportunities within the cigar markets, working closely with marketing, strategy, and consumer insights
  
  
• Tracking, following, and spotting emerging trends in the cigar industry before our competitors
  
  
• Leading conversations to enhance the innovative potential of the business

Also, as our Product Development Innovator (EU), you will:

• You are not daunted by failure and determined to find simple solutions to complex problems
  
  

• You have a good understanding of consumer insights trends within the European cigar market and packaging
  
  
• You can turn ideas into workable prototypes
  
  

Your areas of knowledge and expertise (that matter the most for this role):

• 3-5 years of experience within marketing, packaging, or a related field, preferably with a tobacco industry background.
  
  
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  
  

• BA degree in Engineering, Marketing, or a related field
  
  
• Self-motivated team player
  
  
• Fluent in English
