Praktik - Hele Danmark

Do you want to be part of setting the direction for Oxfam IBIS’ future programmes? And assess the quality of our programmes on areas such as education and fighting inequality in the face of Covid-19?

Background
Oxfam IBIS is part a global movement of people working together to fight inequality and injustice. We run programmes in more than 25 countries in close collaboration with country offices and local partners.

The Programme Quality Team works to deliver the best solutions with, and for, marginalised people. We are a cross-cutting team working with Institutional Funding, Quality Assurance, Innovation and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning (MEAL). We do this by assessing the quality of programmes – and use this to improve interventions and secure funding for new programmes. We are currently leading a strategic process across the organisation to review and plan our programmatic engagement for the next four years.

What we are looking for
We are looking for a dedicated intern with strong analytical skills and the ability to liaise with colleagues in Denmark and abroad. You will be given responsibility for your own area of work. This includes assisting our team in facilitating and coordinating inputs for our annual reporting process and inputs for our future programmatic engagement in close collaboration with our thematic teams and country offices.

You will also take part in reviewing annual reports and programme proposals, making sure that each fulfils our quality standards, and work directly with focal points to revise drafts. It is therefore essential that you have attention to detail, while also being able to communicate well with different stakeholders. Besides these specific areas of responsibility, you will also be expected to contribute to other tasks as needed. We are looking for a candidate who can work independently and as part of a larger team.

You will be exposed to the depth and breadth of our work and help us ensure that our programmes are fit for the new reality surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic. You will get a good understanding and practical experience of working in an organisation that works with development, humanitarian assistance and advocacy. We will provide training and on-going coaching to enable you to take on new responsibilities.

Support for the intern
Oxfam IBIS will ascertain that all formal requirements with respect to strong professional monitoring of the learning and skills development of the interns are met. To this end, a supervisor will be selected among the team members to accompany, support and guide the intern. It is our firm goal that you will have broad and varied experience of working for a global movement by the end of your internship.

We are unfortunately not able to remunerate you as an intern but offer a free lunch buffet and flexible hours.

Key responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include the following amongst others:
  • Coordinate draft reports and proposals for our annual reporting and planning for our programmatic engagement
  • Assist in reviewing and quality assuring annual reports and programme proposals
  • Research, draft and edit written inputs as needed, making sure we answer the needs of, and are accountable to, communities and partners
  • Manage and visualise information to create constant overview for staff and management
  • Provide practical support for meetings, events and other tasks as needed

Qualifications
The right candidate:
  • Is undertaking a relevant higher education, preferably within political science, development or migration studies, social sciences or at business school
  • Has strong analytical skills and a keen attention to detail
  • Has skills and experience in documentation and written communication
  • Has interest in systematic and methodological approaches
  • Is fluent in English. Danish, French or Spanish is an advantage, but not a requirement
  • Is able to work independently on your own and can liaise with a range of stakeholders

How to apply
Please submit your application via the ‘send application’ button and include your motivation letter and CV.

Application deadline: October 1st, 2020 at 23.59 CET. We will, however, consider applications on a rolling basis and encourage you to apply early. The intern period is 5 month/37 hours a week from January 25th, 2021.Unfortunately, we are not able to offer salary to interns, but we do have a free fruit-and lunch arrangement for interns.

Please note that only applications received using the link provided can be taken into consideration.

Further information available from MEAL Specialist Kasper Jon Larsen at [email protected] or on (+45) 5037 5164.

Oxfam IBIS is committed to equal employment opportunity we therefore encourage everybody – irrespective of age, gender and of religious, sexual, national or ethnic affiliation – to apply for this internship position.

Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty.

That means we tackle the inequality that keeps people poor. Together we save, protect and rebuild lives. When disaster strikes, we help people build better lives for themselves, and for others. We take on issues like land rights, climate change and discrimination against women. And we won’t stop until every person on the planet can enjoy life free from poverty.
We are an international confederation of 20 organisations (affiliates) working together with partners and local communities in the areas of humanitarian, development and campaigning, in more than 90 countries.
All our work is led by three core values: Empowerment, Accountability, Inclusiveness.

Oxfam is committed to preventing any type of unwanted behaviour at work including sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse, lack of integrity and financial misconduct; and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults. Oxfam expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment through our code of conduct.
We place a high priority on ensuring that only those who share and demonstrate our values are recruited to work for us.
