JOIN OUR ENGINEERING SOFTWARE SECTION IN LYNGBY

In Group IT we support more than 7000 internal users in more than 80 sites around the world. We are operating in a challenging environment, managing BIM and technical applications which are the primary production tools in COWI. These tools are under constant development due to constant technological advances in the areas and our businesses requirements for up-to-date and state-of-the-art tools. This demands for close cooperation and problem solving with the rest of the 125 colleagues in Group IT, many of them located in Lithuania. Group IT delivers value to the business through professional IT support.

With the increased demand for custom developed applications and in order to continue to deliver excellent results, we are now looking to strengthen the team with an technical product owner. The position is in Lyngby and you will join a global team of professionals in an international setting with colleagues in Lithuania, Denmark and Norway. You will report to the Head of Section for Engineering Software, also located in Lyngby.

The section is responsible for procuring, managing and supporting COWI's portfolio of BIM, GIS and other technical software products from amongst others Autodesk, Bentley, Trimble and ESRI. Together they constitute some of COWI's most business-critical applications, representing over 2 million man-hours worldwide every year and therefore carry a very high degree of business and management focus. The section also delivers resources for both scoping and execution of development projects initiated under COWI's digitalization strategy. Anchored in a central Digitalization Team, the projects aim at changing both project processes and deliveries throughout the COWI organization and cover all phases from ideation to development and operation.

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Participate in digital transformation projects as Group IT's representative
  • Lead technical software development projects delivering solutions to our business acting as product owner working closely with the Product manager from the business
  • Act as the connection between business stakeholders and developer resources (both internal and external) to ensure the quality of the delivered solutions
  • Participate in defining standards and best practices for software development in Group IT and continuously improving the way we work with software development
  • Participate in application management of the section's applications, supporting the worldwide production on COWI projects

To succeed in this position, we believe that you should be a team player with an IT technical background, possess good communication skills and be motivated by transforming business requirements into fit-for-purpose IT applications. The perfect candidate has experience with development and an interest in architecture.

Furthermore, you should:

  • Hold a degree in IT and have 2 -3 years of experience in working with IT application development preferably from a global organisation
  • Have experience with project work
  • Have strong stakeholder management skills and be able to manage a large and varied group of stakeholders
  • Be able to span many concurrent initiatives
  • Have good communication and facilitation skills
  • Have good English skills, both oral and written


Additionally, you can relate to the following competencies:

  • You are interested in technology and keep up to date on technical trends
  • You are structured and result oriented
  • You are motivated by delivering fit-for-purpose solutions in a sustainable way
  • You are a team player and you enjoy creating results with others
  • Familiarity with the ITIL framework and BIM is considered a plus
