Who are we?

The DRC Stand-by Roster is a unit within the International Department of the Danish Refugee Council. For almost 30 years the DRC Stand-by Roster (SBR) has assisted UN agencies around the world with deployment of experts to fill capacity gaps in humanitarian emergencies with short notice. The DRC SBR is considered a leading partner to several UN agencies including UNHCR, UNICEF and WFP. The unit is managing several rosters that enable the DRC SBR to deploy expert staff on short notice to UN humanitarian operations globally.

About the job

The mission of DRC is to assist refugees and the displaced, protect their rights and empower them towards a better future and the search for durable solutions is a key element in this. In this role you will support the implementation of two grant agreements with UNHCR to support their capacity to perform registration and data management in the field as well as conduct resettlement interviews in order to support refugees in being resettled to a third country. You will be working closely with UNHCR in Geneva and in Denmark as well as in the field in order to get the experts on ground as quickly and smooth as possible.

The Resettlement Roster and the newly established Registration Roster consist of experts who after a thorough recruitment process become members and are offered deployments as resettlement, BID, registration and operations data management experts in UNHCR operations. Jointly the two rosters consist of around 230 experts, however a recruitment process is ongoing therefore this number will increase over the coming months.

In this role you will be in charge of deployments to UNHCR under the Resettlement and Registration Rosters as well as being responsible for the recruitment of new members on the Registration Roster.

The Programme and Operations Coordinator will report to the Head of the DRC Stand-by Roster but will be working in close collaboration with the rest of the DRC SBR team in particular the other POC in the Resettlement/Registration Roster team.

The key duties and responsibilities of this position:

Resettlement Roster and Registration Roster:

  • Coordinated by the POC in the RST/REG team responsible for the deployment of the majority of experts on the two rosters including requesting contracts, booking of flight tickets, visa applications, briefing of the deployee, and other practical tasks related to the deployments.
  • Continuous follow up on ongoing deployment and support to the deployees.
  • Debriefing and closure of deployments, including financial settlements.
  • Contribute to donor reporting according to UNHCR guidelines and procedures.

Recruitment:

  • Responsible for finalizing the on-going recruitment of registration and operation data managers on the newly established Registration Roster. This includes following up with UNHCR on technical clearance, conducting skype interviews and deciding on membership. Support to obtaining references, setting up interviews and registering new members in the database is provided by an intern.
  • Ad hoc recruitment for the Resettlement Roster and Registration Roster

Other:

  • Taking on task related to the new ERP system Dynamics such as salary check, settlements, bank related matters etc.
  • Support the maintenance of the HERO database (a tailored database to manage members and deployments) by updating deployment and member data, cleaning up, testing new functionalities etc.
  • Contribute and support development processes including strategy development, SOP Guideline and other as needed
  • Participate in arranging and conducting one monitoring mission a year
  • Represent the DRC SBR with all relevant stakeholders
  • Possible other ad hoc and backstopping tasks to be expected including deployments for other rosters.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to quickly build relations with individuals and groups and to maintain networks. You must be able to work autonomously, to take initiative and pro-actively engage with others. All employees should master DRC's core competencies: Communicating, Taking the lead, Collaborating, Striving for excellence and Demonstrating integrity.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

  • Degree in Human Resources, Social/Political Sciences, International development/relations, Business or other relevant field s discipline from an accredited academic institution
  • Experience with human resource management including recruitment preferably experience from humanitarian organizations
  • Experience with financial management preferably grants management in a humanitarian or development setting
  • Flair for and interest in working with advanced software systems (ERP system and tailormade database)
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent English oral and writing skills
  • A systematic mindset and good attention to detail
  • Flair for budgets and numbers
  • The ability to work under time pressure with many simultaneous tasks also outside normal working hours

We offer

A contract is running from as soon as possible until 31st August 2020. The place of work will be the DRC International Department, Borgergade 10, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and the AC Organization. This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply.

Please note that you need to have the right to work in Denmark (through nationality or existing work visa) to be considered for this role.
