As the AI/ML Architect for APM Terminals & Fleet you will report to the Architecture and Engineering Director – GDA APMT & Fleet. You will be the organizational change leader and champion for AI/ML driven data products innovation and developments that will form the foundation of the division’s digital evolution.

The role

AI/ML Solution Architect for APM Terminals & Fleet is defining and driving the AI/ML roadmap, architecture and strategy across the 75+ terminals and 700+ vessels across the globe working closely with cross-functional team across business, platform portfolio, regional CIOs and technology stakeholders across the company. You will spearhead the effort in defining and executing AI/ML strategy, building a data driven organization and envision innovative and focused approaches to standardize and rollout data products across terminals.

You'll have an entrepreneurial mindset with a passion to push the boundaries of innovation and identify business opportunities to promote AI/ML and advanced data techniques for increased capability and growth. You'll also bring with you and promote innovation culture and conduct ideation workshop, hackathon and exploratory data analysis for identifying data patterns and new business opportunities in areas untapped before.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain target state AI/ML solution architecture blueprint that will be used across APM Terminals and Fleet Management at global, regional and local level with high degree of standardization and scalability.
• Bring forecasting, optimization, simulation AI/ML techniques to solve business problems and develop a journey map (idea it, prove it, nail it, scale it) from ideation to scaled AI/ML implementation.
• Be the AI/ML subject matter expertise for the team and provide mentoring and coaching to engineers within the organization.
• Define data architecture and design patterns for IOT and intersection of IT and OT data. Ideate and create opportunities to identify signals within IOT and how it can help in creating visibility and solving global supply chain challenges.
• Develop reusable frameworks and patterns across data engineering, ML engineering, MLOps which will increase our knowledge assets and reduce time to market.
• Develop architecture, design, coding standards and review mechanism to instill high degree of quality and stickiness in production with high availability.
• Work closely with business, data product leaders, platform portfolio leaders, data product owners to understand business requirements and develop solution architecture and strategy.
• Hire and manage architecture and engineering teams while strengthening morale and cohesion across the teams
• Manage technical debt and technology trade-offs, communicating those to the product and platform product owners
• Develop and deliver data and AIML bootcamps for business and technology teams to increase the understanding of why, when and how to use data technologies. Upon completion, build the pilot frameworks for joint business and technology teams to deliver business value through bootcamp learnings.
• Handle priorities and clearly communicate expectations to department heads and the executive team
• Collaborate with other Enterprise and GDA Architecture leaders on interdependencies and best-practices

• 6-8 years’ experience overall in architecting and developing high-performance AI/ML based data products
• Strong experience in applied AI/ML across regression, classification, clustering, computer vision, deep neural networks, AutoML, ML Life Cycle and MLOps concepts.
• Experience working with open-source ML libraries, cloud based ML services and AutoML tools and strong programming background in python.
• Good knowledge of multi-cloud data ecosystem and build scalable solutions on cloud (Azure, GCP and AWS)
• Understanding of Big Data Ecosystem (data lake, lake house, data mesh) with real time and batch style data, Spark, Python, Kafka, Hadoop, Databricks, common third-party integration and orchestration tools.
• A strong passion for adopting and introducing standard, automated and repeatable processes and led teams through fast paced development cycles; committed to automation, agile, lean-startup, continuous delivery approach and reduce total cost of ownership
• Experience driving complex tasks and projects to mitigate risk. You carefully evaluate and anticipate risks with mitigations before taking action, clearly articulate options and their impacts/consequences. You of course correct when needed, expecting to fail fast and respond efficiently.
• Ability to facilitate ongoing prioritization discussions, obtain consensus among stakeholders and carry those decisions through to communication materials, with refresh as needed
• Ability to fully understand business goals and metrics, turn data into insights, and translate requirements into actionable analysis
• Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, issue resolution, negotiation, and relationship management
• Ability to present complicated technology concepts in a simple manner, and present key technology challenges or overviews relevant to senior technology leadership (C Level Execs)
• Strong communication skills (written, oral) and ability to coordinate across a diverse group of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Lead mostly with questions rather than opinions, thriving on the opportunity to own, innovate, create, and constantly re-evaluate

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of the shipping and/or logistics industry (desirable)
• Working with IOT data and Digital Twin Simulation (desirable)
