Steinwurf was founded in 2011 by an international team of researchers. In Steinwurf, we specialize in developing high performance erasure correcting codes (ECC) and helping clients integrate these algorithms in critical products. Steinwurf today provides patented algorithms for e.g. low latency communication, reliable multicast, and distribution of large files. In addition, Steinwurf offers off-the-shelf traditional algorithms for integration in products where standard compliance or backward compatibility requires it.
Role
We’re looking for a software developer/networking expert in Steinwurf. You’ll dive deep into the networking stack of Linux and work with integrating our solutions in the best possible and most efficient way (e.g. via DPDK). We are working on both optimizing legacy transports such as TCP and UDP, but also working on new transports for low-latency communication and scalable multicast. As part of the team you will see a wide range of different tasks ranging from network setup/configuration to writing tools and libraries.
While our products are primarily written using C/C++, we also have a few kernel modules and several language bindings (Python, Java, and Javascript).
Being part of a focused team means the need for boring meetings are limited to a minimum, and for the most part you can concentrate on creating high quality code. We have a very loose hierarchy meaning that your opinion will always be heard and valued.
We seek a passionate software developer/networking expert who agrees with our view of software development being a craftsmanship and takes pride in developing well tested and high quality code.

Responsibilities
- Network configuration for Steinwurf’s software solutions.
- Maintain Steinwurf’s software libraries.
- Develop new Software to showcase the power of ECC.
- Work on new tools to ease the development flow of yourself and your colleagues.
Job Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor's degree in software engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with: Networking protocols, setup and configuration
- Experience with: Linux, C/C++, Python.
- Experience with any of the following: Kernel Development, Embedded Software
