Data Scientist to Build and Scale Deep Learning Vision System

About the department
You will be part of our Technology Innovation area in a newly established department “Future Aseptic Product Manufacturing Intelligence”.
In the department we are working on replacing the current computer vision system in our visual inspection process with image recognition based on deep learning. The purpose of the visual inspection process is to ensure that products with critical defects will not be delivered to customers and to facilitate correction and improvement of the manufacturing process. We are far along and aim to have the first deep learning models ready for deployment at our pilot site in Denmark within this year.
Beside the vision project our department have the responsibility of developing and deploying Manufacturing Intelligence solutions across our production network worldwide.
The job
Together with the team you will be responsible for designing and developing state-of-the-art deep learning models for image recognition for the visual inspection process. From day one you will work with models at different maturity levels. Some models are far along today, and others still need to be further developed before being ready for deployment in production at our pilot site and scale to our production sites around the globe.
Together with the production you will be responsible for maintaining and optimising the models that are deployed in production to ensure continuous high performance.
As the department is new you will also be part of shaping the department and help identify further areas in which we can utilize deep learning to optimise production in terms of the quality of our life-saving products, environmental impact and cost.
You will be working close together with other data scientists, statisticians, production experts, external development partners and students in an innovative environment.
You will collaborate with like-minded colleagues across Product Supply.
You are encouraged to participate in the data scientist networks across Novo Nordisk.
Qualifications
- You have proven hands-on experience and extensive knowledge of image analysis using deep learning
- You have knowledge of traditional image analysis
- You are an experienced Python developer and are using Tensorflow or PyTorch
- You have preferable been exposed to DevOps, Docker, and continuous deployment
- You preferable have knowledge of utilisation of Amazon Web Services, especially SageMaker, S3, and DynamoDB
On the personal side you have a strong drive and can work independently within your area of expertise. You can work in a team and communicate with highly specialised colleagues.
You have a high-quality mindset and are committed to provide work that lives up to the high requirements that are essential in the pharmaceutical industry where patients daily rely on the high quality of our products.
As we are a global company and an international team, fluency in both spoken and written English is required.
You have a relevant education at minimum Master Level (e.g., Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering).
Experience from relevant industry such as pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device industries is a plus.
