København K

The National Museum is Denmark’s largest museum of cultural history. We have a portfolio of systems ranging from climate control, item registration to public display of our items. These systems include both externally and internally developed systems, newer systems, as well as systems so old they are more at home in the museum's exhibition than in the hands of their users.

This position is within the Application team which currently employs one front-end developer, one back-end developer, one SharePoint Administrator and occasionally a consultant to help us with specific tasks.

We are adding three new profiles to this team in order to redo the entire portfolio of systems and bring the National Museum of Denmark at the forefront of digitalization of cultural heritage.

You can meet the team and read more about the workplace and our plans here:

https://nationalmuseumofdenmark.github.io/team/

Our vision We want this team to raise the bar of digitalization of cultural heritage.

We want well-designed, effective, efficient and superbly crafted applications and websites, for both internal and external users.

We want this job to be a cornerstone in your career, one where you get to hone your craft and develop your skills.

We offer a very open and flexible work environment, in a dedicated team, with a high level of autonomy.

We focus on doing things properly rather than quickly in an informal and fun environment.

We focus on personal development so we have allocated time for, among other things, internal hackathons so you can advance your craftsmanship.

Scope of employment Your responsibility will be to craft applications and tools as web interfaces, implementing user friendly workflows on top of our APIs that handle all data, changes, and associated business logic. We currently use TypeScript (3.7+), Sass (3.5+), Vue (2.6+) and Bootstrap (4.4+), but previous knowledge of these languages or technologies is not required.

Your responsibility will be to help create and maintain the toolchain needed for a solid front-end environment, i.e. CI / CD, Git workflows and Electron.

Your responsibility will be to participate actively in sparring around both practical everyday challenges as well as more theoretical high-level decisions.

Your responsibility will be to communicate technical ideas and concepts in an accurate and unambiguous manner with co-workers dedicated to different areas of expertise, while both aiding and challenging their current workflows.

Your responsibility will be to have the grit to hone your craft, develop your skills and be on the forefront with both development and technology trends in close collaboration with our other developers.

Qualifications You have a bachelor’s degree or higher either in software development or in a related field with some experience in development.

You take pride in writing well-crafted code in common, modern web technologies. You understand it is all about your craftmanship and always have users and usability in mind.

You can quickly acquire a working knowledge of our domain as well as understanding how and why to do things, rather than just what to do.

You understand the value of and are willing to work towards a friendly, social and engaging work environment.

Terms of employment The working hours are 37 hours a week. Salary and other terms of employment are subject to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikernes Centralorganisation, AC).

The position is to be filled as of the 1st of May 2020 or shortly thereafter.

Since the primary working language at the Museum is Danish, a new non-Danish-speaking employee is expected to acquire the necessary Danish language skills within a short period of time (max. two years).

The application The National Museum is actively working to promote equality among employees and encourage all qualified candidates, regardless of personal background, to apply for the position.

To better assess candidates, we require the application to be accompanied by a solution to the problem specified here:

https://nationalmuseumofdenmark.github.io/frontend-assignment-description/

If this sounds interesting, send an application via the recruitment system on our website https://www.natmus.dk/job

The application must reach the museum no later than the 17th of March 2020.

Interviews are scheduled for week 13.

The application can be submitted in both English and Danish.

Further information about the position can be obtained from Application Team Manager Andreas Nauta Nygaard Pedersen on [email protected] or +45 41 20 66 68
