Established app 1 year ago, the Vessel and Asset IT is a specialized function with focus on engineering and services for the fleet of 300+ vessel and 3+ million containers. We are growing in numbers to cater for the increasing demand of services leveraging the vast amount of data that our fleet of vessels and containers already generate or can be enabled to generate.

To shape future of our digital solutions for Equipment IOT, we are looking for a driven solution architect to join the Vessel & Asset IT Organization in Maersk Technology.

As Solution Architect, you will gain broad business knowledge of the company’s activities globally, as well as understand how the complexity of Technology supports the transport and logistics business and how use of Internet of things improving asset management.

You will be exposed to a wide and interesting range of business challenges through regular engagement with key stake-holders across all management levels within Maersk. Your role is to define solution for IOT products, communicate architectural concerns to stakeholders, ensure overall architectural due diligence and help in DEVOPS set up for IOT products.

You will join a team of currently 46 highly skilled employees in Copenhagen and Pune, India aiming to grow to 65 over the next 6-9 months. We deliver both agile and waterfall in close collaboration with our colleagues in the Maersk business operations.

Key responsibilities


You will be a contributing solution architect in various Scrum teams and collaborate with the other teams in the program. You will be reporting directly to the Head of Equipment IOT. Your tasks will among other things include the following:

•Analyze business needs, identify relevant solution scenarios and translate them into architectural models and roadmaps aligned to Enterprise Architecture principles

•Challenge, influence and support the stakeholders to solve issues and help realizing the company vision

•Identify and co-develop enterprise architecture principles & guidelines

•Driving software architecture and design patterns, dissecting business requirements into small implementable tasks

•Create and communicate shared view of solution architecture and best practice including design principles & patterns, technology, tools and standards, interfaces, etc.

•Ensures compliance of the overall asset IT infrastructure to architectural standards such as scalability, ease of integration, portability.

•Should be able to work with Enterprise architect, security architect, network architect and cloud architect to put up implementable solution.

•Participating in Scrum ceremonies, e.g. sprint planning, backlog refinement and task estimation

•Work with delivery teams to develop sustainable and achievable solutions & verifying the implementation ensuring the delivered system is consistent with the agreed architecture

•Adopt modern technologies and accelerate innovation in the department by driving cloud-native approach, PaaS paradigm, T-shaped people mindset, DevOps, etc.

We are looking for


•A total of at least 10 years of industry experience with at least 6 years of experience in designing and building scalable applications

•Gained practical experience by working on IOT use cases

•At least 1 year of hands-on experience with cloud-native software development using the Azure PaaS offerings (Event Hub, Service Bus, API management, Application Insights)

•Working experience with Microsoft .NET Core (ASP .NET Web API + API versioning, Entity Framework, MVC)

•Great analytical skills in mastering multi-functional highly scalable systems, firm understanding of computer science, networking technologies and design, multi-tenant applications, and database technologies

•Understanding of containerization principles, e.g. Docker, Kubernetes

•Experience in different development paradigms (Agile, Lean Product Development, Waterfall) and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)

•Stakeholder management skills, experience of leading and influencing resources not under direct line management.

•Excellent Written and Verbal skills with people at all levels across the organization in English.

•Focused on quality

•Computer Science Degree

In addition to above the suitable candidate has ideally:
•Experience in the marine industry.
•Knowledge and practical experience in the usage of satellite communication.
•Experience with mobile communication
