With an interest in High Performance Computing and IT Architecture
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled IT Specialist to join our team at the DTU Computing Center (DCC). The position is two-fold. You will be part of the DCC’s daily operations to provide services to all staff and students at DTU through our HPC Competence Center, which is a general DTU service. Your job will primarily be to maintain and support users in using the HPC system for their research.
The second and largest part of the position is to work closely with one of our research centers within AI and image analysis to implement an IT infrastructure on DCC’s computing cluster. You will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of an IT Platform as part of the QUAITOM project on the cluster. QUAITOM is a data science infrastructure funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation for AI-based quantitative analysis of 3D data from X-rays and neutrons. The aim is to create a data-analysis platform that will work as an interface for machine learning researchers and scientists using 3D imaging to investigate materials. The platform will host algorithms, tools, and data and is being built by software developers in the research center. Your job will be to ensure an optimal implementation of the QUAITOM data-analysis platform on our HPC system.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the use of Machine Learning tools and computations, enabling researchers and students using imaging to advance their work in a wide range of scientific disciplines by providing easy-to-use access to state-of-the-art AI tools.

Depending on your experience level and qualifications, you will be permanently employed as an Academic officer/Fuldmægtig or Special advisor/Specialkonsulent in accordance with the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) or the LC/CO10 Joint Agreement and the organization agreement for IT employees (Prosa) in the service of the state.

Our expectations of you
We are looking for an IT Specialist who has experience in supporting scientific applications in a High Performance Environment.
We expect:
- A master's or PhD degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in High-Performance Computing and IT architecture.
- Strong knowledge of Linux- (and BSD-) based systems and cluster computing.
- Good knowledge of storage technologies (EMC, BeeGFS, …) and their usage in HPC installations.
- Experience with network technologies, including Infiniband.
- Familiarity with Machine Learning frameworks and tools.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
- Experience with using monitoring tools to build and keep and maintain a system running optimally.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with researchers and team members.
- Willingness to stay updated with the latest technologies and adapt to emerging trends.
Primary activities the position will include are:
- Collaborate with researchers and scientists to design and implement the IT Platform on the HPC Cluster.
- Optimize and maintain the high-performance computing environment to meet the project's objectives.
- Provide technical expertise and support for the computational needs of Machine Learning tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to the platform.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of the system.
- Be a part of the team that runs a HPC installation, including doing hardware maintenance.
