The Position The Sr. Scientist/Specialist – Computational Peptide Design will be an important team member of Molecular AI and contribute to the research team's effort towards exploring and creating new technology and continuing to be a world expert in peptide drug design. In this position, you will work closely with Research Chemistry to develop new technologies and design ultra large peptide libraries. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing complex workflows to support the selection, design and optimization of peptide modalities. In this exciting position, among others, your broad range of responsibilities will include:
  • Contributing to on-going portfolio projects within multiple therapy areas.
  • Designing and optimizing drug candidates using advanced computational techniques.
  • Developing innovative computational methods for peptide modeling and ultra large peptide libraries.
  • Analyzing and drawing conclusions from large datasets.
  • Maintaining a well-documented, reusable codebase, and traceable model history
  • Working closely with Therapeutic areas, Research Chemistry and Biophysics and Formulations teams to drive discovery and development efforts
  • Actively participating in cross-functional teams to develop AI and ML models and solutions.
  • The Sr. Scientist/Specialist – Computational Peptide Design reports to the Head of Molecular AI. They will have close interactions with scientists and experts within Research Chemistry. Additional internal partners include data scientists, specialists, engineers, software developers, technology scouts & partnership developers and others across US and Denmark. External relationships include commercial and academic collaboration partners. For this position you will be based in Maaloev (Copenhagen area, Denmark) or London (UK). Qualifications To succeed in this position, we imagine you have:
  • Master’s Degree with 3+ years’ relevant experience or PhD with 1+ years’ of relevant experience with peptide structure-based design methods using conformational analysis, amino acid monomers, in silico mutation, property prediction or similar. Experience related to ultra large library design and macrocyclic design would be a plus.
  • Proficiency in Python (or other scientific programming) to curate and analyze data at scale and to implement new metrics to predict and select peptide designs. It would be advantageous if you have experience with QSAR, machine learning, deep learning.
  • Proficiency with at least one modeling software package (e.g. Schrodinger, Rosetta, similar).
  • Proficiency in general molecular modeling techniques (docking, molecular simulation, homology modeling, quantum mechanics, ligand- and structure-based design).
  • As a person, you have excellent written and oral communication skills and are good at engaging stakeholders in a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary setting. As a science-driven detail-oriented person, you have the ability to perform in-depth data analysis and present results and conclusions to engineering and leadership teams. Furthermore, you will show initiative in recognizing and addressing unmet scientific needs using internal and external data and the desire to grow outside their comfort zone. About the Department The Molecular AI team is part of Novo Nordisk’s Computational Drug Design (CDD) area where we apply and develop state of the art capabilities in predictive science, AI/ML and structure-based drug design. Scientists within CDD collaborate seamlessly with teams across the globe to invent better molecules faster.
