Loads of advanced features packed into a resource constrained platform
In your new position at Demant/Oticon, you will be part of the Chipset Firmware Platform Group consisting of 30 highly skilled colleagues. The atmosphere is informal and humorous but at the same time highly ambitious.

Our team is involved in all phases of product development. All the way from IC specification, through early wakeup, product development and into the market. This means that our work is very diverse both with respect to pace and content. Depending on the phase of the project, we work in simulations, FPGAs or on the actual chipset. Since our chipsets are internally developed our delivery starts with the boot ROM and extends all the way up to the application layer.

Our goal is to deliver the most advanced low-power audio-enabled device, living up to medical device standards. This means that you must be able to design safe C code that provides advanced functionality with real-time guarantees for the audio system while balancing memory consumption, cycles and power efficiency. The firmware platform includes HW drivers, RTOS, power management, file system, communication stacks, FW update functionality, security, two wireless audio systems and much more. In summary, you will join one of our four scrum teams to:

  • Design, develop, test and release firmware for our chipset
  • Contribute to the definition and development of our internally developed ICs
  • Master the challenge of developing firmware on a custom IC while it is under development


Your expertise – Low level embedded software development
We are looking both experienced developers and very talented new-graduate as our diversity of tasks means we can provide very interesting challenges for all levels of experience.

We expect you to hold a relevant degree in Electronics or Computer Engineering and have experience with development of low-level embedded systems, specifically within the following areas:

  • Low-level embedded programming in C
  • Understanding of processor architectures
  • Understanding of real-time operating systems and real-time handling of HW
  • Programming for memory/power/time constrained systems
  • Linux and scripting

It is an advantage to understand digital design languages (VHDL/Verilog) and to be able to read an electronics schematic. All parts of the system are under development in parallel so errors could be anywhere. As FW developer you will typically be in a very central position in debugging these issues and being able to understand the whole system will be beneficial.

It is also an advantage if you have experience with ARM architectures.
