The area
You will become part of the Connectivity and embedded software group, a part of the R&D unit Device Software. This group is responsible for implementing all the embedded software and associated tools for Oticon hearing aids and wireless platforms.
Referring to the Senior Director of Connectivity & Embedded Software, you will direct the embedded software team delivering the wireless applications for our hearing aids. You will be a part of a management team together with our other software managers, architects, and SAFe ART leaders.
Your main task is to ensure that the team of 18 very skilled embedded software developers, are set up for advanced development of the embedded SW for our next generation hearing aids.
The job
The embedded software developers in the team are responsible for designing, implementing, and verifying embedded SW for all the wireless applications in Oticon’s hearing instruments, which is based on the Bluetooth Low energy (BLE) technology. The team works in a Zephyr open-source environment, it is realized in our own system on chip (SOC) controller environment. Their focus is feature development via the host and application layer of the protocol.
The software developers are part of a SAFe Agile release train (ART), organized in scrum teams with product owners and scrum masters. As Senior Software manager you are expected to excel as line manager, securing that the team is set up for growth - including:
· Lead and supervise a team of software developers, providing mentorship, coaching, and guidance to promote their professional growth.
· Facilitate the adoption of agile practices within the team, ensuring adherence to the SAFe principles and methodologies.
· Promote a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging experimentation, innovation, and learning within the team.
· Remove any impediments or obstacles that may hinder the team's progress towards achieving their goals.
· Provide regular feedback and performance evaluations for team members, recognizing achievements and addressing areas for improvement.
· Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to embedded software development and wireless communication.
· Support and implement strategic initiatives within own area as well as the Connectivity and embedded software group.
Personal qualifications
We expect you to have at least a B.SC. in software development or engineering and have documented experience within embedded software and product development.
In addition, it is expected, [P(2] that you have prior experience as a Software Manager or similar leadership role in an Agile/SAFe environment.
As we are searching for a leader for a team working in a SAFe environment it is important that your personal toolbox and motivation match the following areas:
· Servant leadership principles with a focus on empowering teams and the single employee.
· Communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
· Experience in coaching and mentoring software development teams, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement.
· Understanding of the SAFe framework and its implementation in large-scale software development projects
· Embedded software development knowledge like. languages, tools and methodologies.
You are fluent in English both written and spoken, as it is our company language.
