The position
This position offers you a unique opportunity focused on driving and developing digital strategies to accelerate our research and pre–clinical, be a strong and visible driver of initiatives with a wide range of internal stakeholders in R&ED, Development & IT which will significantly impact digitalisation of Novo Nordisk in research. You will report to the Head of Digital Strategy & Portfolio Management, and your areas of responsibilities will include:
• Defining, scoping, and embedding strategies that is tightly knitted with our overall R&ED strategy and aspirations to amplify and accelerate scientific innovation in early research through digitalisation
• Supporting the business to ensure all new initiatives have robust business cases and/or strategic fit. Keeping oversight and supporting execution and progress of strategic initiatives.
• Developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive innovation, anticipating changes in the needs of our scientists, and adjusting the strategic direction.
• Collaborating and facilitating strategy development with partners across disciplines and areas, especially, research and early development, DD&IT, and Finance.
• Running design-workshops to uncover pain points, explore solutions, and develop value adding solutions. Demonstrate and support diversity and inclusion practices. Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you have:
• Graduate degree or equivalent in life sciences (or MBA with BSc degree, or equivalent experience in life science).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in pharma, life science, or biotech with proven experience in digitalisation of early research and drug discovery. Experience in management consulting, client-facing roles, and developing and executing strategies.
• Understanding of the R&D value chain and experience in working with various digital disciplines e.g., automation, data infrastructure, data management, data science, external activities, and scientific intelligence is an advantage.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills.
• Project management experience - leading cross-functional initiatives with many stakeholders. Ability to continuously interact with multiple stakeholders in a matrix organization across levels and disciplines.
• Ability to use design thinking principles to drive strategy processes and strategic projects from idea to final handover for implementation.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in spoken and written English.
• Ability to take on individual assignments with a high degree of autonomy and work in a team setting. About the department
Digital Science and Innovation (DSI) was established in March 2022 to drive digitalisation across the value chain in R&ED from early discovery to pre-clinical development. DSI is supporting the digital transformation journey across all our therapy areas in R&ED. The DSI vision is to amplify and accelerate our science through innovative use of data, digital tools, and computational approaches. Our current focus in DSI is to generate and showcase business value – based on addressing specific scientific questions and processes in a “digital-first” approach – while building the digital foundation to deliver our ambitions by scaling data, digital tools, and computational across R&ED. We aim to build an attractive community of data, digital and scientific professionals and foster an inclusive DIGITAL CULTURE for our multidisciplinary delivery teams across R&ED and IT areas. We engage in external collaborations to pursue and build digital science and innovation capabilities. Digital Strategy & Change Management (DSCM) in DSI is driving our digital transformation based on robust strategic thinking, portfolio management of digital projects, utilization of a project and change management to ensure that we can amplify and accelerate scientific innovation. We also support portfolio management across DSI and within the respective digital science and innovation disciplines (e.g., automation, data infrastructure, data management, data science & AI, external partnerships, and scientific intelligence).
