As Head of Strategic Sourcing at KMC, you will be part of the SCM (Supply Chain Management) team and ensure a professional and strategic approach towards the corporation and selection of suppliers. KMC is on a growth journey, and one of the responsibilities of the Strategic Sourcing Manager is to secure the right capabilities in the sourcing department. To obtain this, you must plan for a department fit for the future and ensure that the necessary resources are added to the team. As the department is small, to begin with, it must drive you to build up and have an essential imprint on this.

As Head of Strategic Sourcing, you will furthermore be responsible for purchasing agreements, the security of supply, and the negotiation process of purchase prices. Within this position, your main category areas will include freight, chemistry/emulsifiers, and packaging. You will be in charge of developing the purchasing department and purchasing categories and evaluating, developing, and maintaining the supplier portfolio.

With a direct report to the COO, you will become KMC’s representative towards setting the direction within strategic sourcing.

Your main tasks are:

• Daily management of the purchasing function (from the beginning there will be direct leadership of just one person, but you are expected to develop and grow the department overtime to secure the necessary capabilities in the team)
• Operational sourcing and purchasing
• Preparation and implementation of purchasing strategies
• Build up strategic and international alliances with suppliers
• In collaboration with the area managers, to set up KPIs for the purchasing area and continuously carry out KPI follow-up as well as the identification and implementation of corrective actions
• Ensure that deliveries from suppliers are made in accordance with targets and agreements
• Continuously develop and optimise purchasing processes, routines, and support systems
• Market intelligence, searching the market for new potential suppliers, product alternatives, price trends, competitors’ purchasing solutions, etc.

Your qualifications are a minimum of 5 years of experience in international strategic sourcing and purchasing. As Strategic Sourcing Manager, you have international sourcing experience with a close focus on quality, security, and supply reliability. The sourcing concentrates on outbound freight (mostly sea), chemistry and emulsifiers, and packaging (paper, big bags, and wooden pallets); therefore, experience within these fields would be an advantage.

You have an educational background in economics or trade, however practical experience in strategic sourcing and a proven track record are most important.

Travelling: Approximately 10-20 days per year.
