Heading the Accounting department in a Danish headquartered global company
Our Operational Finance Team in Denmark has the responsibility for the accounting activities for our European Distribution Centers and our Corporate Headquarter. The team also supports 4 sales companies in the Nordic territory and together, this covers a substantial part of our total group turnover. During the past 2-3 years a major transition plan has seen a significant outsourcing project and as well as the company complete a OMX Copenhagen stock exchange listing.
We are currently looking for a Head of Operational Finance to drive the next phase of our transition and ensure the correct and timely reporting of our numbers to key stakeholders.
Ensuring the right numbers and driving the transformation
The European Distribution Center has turnover of EUR €425M and the Headquarter overhead costs of approximately EUR €100M It is essential for our business that we are able to evaluate our financial performance and produce timely information that enables our business controllers to make the right decisions. We have made a strategic decision to outsource the more transactional accounting areas, however our local Operational Finance team remain responsible and accountable for correct numbers and delivering on time.
In this role, you will play a major role in ensuring a smooth working relationship with our outsourcing partner, reliable performance levels and improved processes going forward. You will work closely with our Global Finance Process Owners and manage 10 employees based in our Headquarter in Brøndby and facility in Hadsund.
Your daily tasks and management responsibilities will be as follows:
You should expect limited travel of approx. 10 days per year to our outsourcing partner in India and some travel to Hadsund. You will report to our VP Head of Operational Finance EMEA.
Finance Manager from international company
You have an educational background as cand.merc.aud., diploma in business administration or similar. You are fluent in English, Danish would be a plus. It will be a definite advantage if you are familiar with SAP functionality and have the capability to understanding end to end processes and re-engineer them when needed.
You will have worked some years as Finance Manager or Finance Team Leader in an international company, preferably where outsourcing was present, and have a background from a larger auditing company. You are experienced within IFRS, VAT, tax, payroll, internal controls and capable of reconciling complex areas when needed.
You are a people manager and a capable leader who is strong enough to take tough decisions and draw attention to problem areas. Your leadership style is characterized by showing respect and building trust within your team, where you can expect team members to be well aware of their roles and responsibilities, setting expectations to them and providing them feedback. You are good at delegating, but does not mind rolling up your sleeves and getting things done yourself.

- Financial controlling and reporting: Define financial controlling responsibility, secure IFRS compliance, support business controllers, ensure correct VAT flow/issues dealing with international group companies, drive preparation of financial statements in Sweden, Norway and Finland, and many ad hoc tasks
- Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables team: Support the team in the daily operations and continue to optimize the transactional accounting processes in your team and with relevant stakeholders
- Payroll: Drive strategic payroll setup defining roles and tools, support project of interface between payroll system and HR system and coordination with HR.
- IT controlling: Be a sparring partner and ensure IT support not only to the Nordic sales companies but also strengthen the support to the European Distribution Center.
