Then the Head of Dangerous Goods in Marine Standards might be your new job
The Head of Dangerous Goods (DG) will be heading up several teams in a global organization with focus on safety aspects of cargo policies, booking execution and cargo screening.
Further, the role entails close coordination with commercial to attract opportunities and maintain current business. This is achieved through expert onboarding and guidance both in the landside and ocean segments where especially L&S has focus in the coming months.
As the Head of Dangerous Goods, you will assume responsibility for the daily running and optimising of three highly skilled functions: DG Governance, DG booking execution, and Cargo Validation; with each their specialty in the E2E DG process. The aim is to ensure that commercial aspirations can be lifted in an efficient manner through setting the right policies, executing the offered products accurately and ensuring that the cargoes we transport are handled correctly, in compliance with regulation and own policies, with care and with maximum safety for the colleagues and assets involved.
Close coordination with several commercial and operational entities must therefore be expected. Further, while keeping a strong eye on safety, a constant push towards IT solutions, providing efficient and optimal customer experience, must always be pursued.

Reporting into the Head of Marine Standards, the role is responsible for driving a strict Safety first ambition through the system development and frontline teams, while constantly pushing the boundaries in support of growth opportunities including and not limited to:
• Lead the dangerous Goods team with a strong safety and customer experience focus
Own the DG policies across Maersk
• Provide relevant cargo information to our commercial colleagues to ensure optimal onboarding and sales experience
• Drive cargo opportunities through efficient coordination with colleagues in commercial, Area HSSE and LOCs
• Constantly challenge our process to ensure an efficient, automated and safe execution delivering error free customer experience
• Develop our cargo screening process and platform to support further detection of mis/un-declared shipments for all cargoes governed in Marine Standards including DG, wildlife, military and special provisions.
• Work with Cargo Excellence to understand KPI developments, prioritise solutions and develop the standards
• Establish CENOPS DG as a center of expertise with local reach
The ideal candidate is an excellent leader with at least 10 years’ experience dealing with complex teams and processes. An understanding of the Dangerous Goods process is preferred as is understanding commercial and operational drivers and experience working with key client managers, areas and customers.

• Diligently able to work with pragmatic solutions while enforcing a strict Safety first culture
• Able to approach all leadership levels of the organisation in a fact based manner
• Able to drive teams with different agendas from the distance while maintaining global standards
• Able to challenges status quo and create solutions pragmatically that enable Safety and growth with a “can do”-attitude
• Taking part in complex discussions in a fact based manner being able to match business process to IT solutions to create efficiency
• Having an excellent understanding of the commercial processes and can establish tailormade engagement models
• A strong process oriented approach to work and excellent attention to detail
• Willing to travel due to global team setup (subject to restrictions)
