Maersk is looking for a Senior Strategy Lead to join their Strategy team. Maersk is on a historic transformation of their business, growing and rethinking the way they engage with customers and partners. All supporting their vision to become the global integrator of container logistics.
The Strategy team is responsible for defining and driving the overall strategic direction, by setting the roadmap and identifying key c-suite priorities, the threats/challenges they need to prepare for and business opportunities. The role reports into the Head of Strategy and will be part of a small team working towards shaping the strategic agenda of Maersk and setting transparent strategic priorities.

The role will be expected to outline strategic options and develop recommendations based on a strong analytical foundation and decision-making insight which ultimately will form and define Maersk’s strategic priorities. Therefore, the ability to establish strong and trusting relationships with senior stakeholders is paramount in this role, which requires you to act both as an advisor and a challenger.
The Senior Strategy Lead will lead cross functional project teams to solutions through structured problem solving, challenging oneself and others to think ahead and understand future opportunities. The right candidate has a natural flair for challenging status quo and tabling relevant questions in a comprehensive, structured way.
Moreover, the Strategy team is responsible for creating material to support decisions on a wide array of strategic questions, including the annual review of the corporate strategy for the Executive Management team and the Board of Directors of A.P. Moller-Maersk.
The primary internal stakeholders are the Head of Strategy, Katharina Poehlmann, and the Strategy Leadership team as well as executives across the organization as project sponsors.

The Senior Strategy Lead will have the following key responsibilities:
• Act as a trusted and challenging partner on strategic
decisions and projects (e.g. as part of steering committee)
• Facilitate strategy workshops with senior management
• Run large strategic projects towards senior stakeholders
• Identify strategic questions, challenges and opportunities in a structured approach
• Create and drive innovative and thoughtful strategic solutions
• Lead project teams to deliver strong results on strategic projects
• Run annual strategy review process for Executive Board and towards Board of Directors
• Develop decision support material for key strategic topics involving problem definition, analysis of situation, evaluation of options and recommendation

The ideal candidate demonstrates the following key skills and experiences:
• A Master’s Degree with outstanding academic results
• Senior strategy professional with experience in strategy development from either corporate strategy, strategy consulting, or similar – including experience identifying and evaluating fundamental strategic options and choices, co-developing with and creating buy-in from senior stakeholders
• Industry knowledge of Transportation and Logistics and understanding of the dynamics and Maersk’s strategic ambition
• Internationally experienced professional who understands how to operate in multiple countries and cultures in terms of both clients and staff and embraces diversity on multiple dimensions
• Preferable experience as team/people manager
• Exceptional analytical skills and a structured way of working
