As Lead Platform Architect, you will be actively managing standards and coaching our architects and engineering teams to modernize, integrate, deploy, operate, and maintain our industrial automation capabilities. These mission critical capabilities will be deployed globally in our industrial facilities and vessels forming our global supply chain.
This is a leadership and “hands on” role, you will draw from your deep and broad technical expertise to mentor coach and develop the skills and capabilities of our architects and engineers, completing hands-on technical work and resolving complex issues and challenges.
You will be working with the largest technology, automation and original equipment providers globally. Using cutting-edge technologies with significant opportunities to develop, demonstrate and broaden your technology career.

Key responsibilities


• Responsible for defining, improving and road mapping the architecture and designs for our Standardized Industrial Automation Products which will achieve the automation outcomes of the business.

• Responsible for defining architectural descriptions and design artefacts ensuring they are maintained, usable and meet stakeholder concerns. With particular attention to the client-side industrial automation architectural descriptions including business analysis within the context of industrial automation.

• Responsible for shaping the various automation product offerings in conjunction with the platform stakeholders advising on options and recommending solutions.

• Responsible for providing architectural leadership to the team to ensure compliance and adherence of the industrial automation products and services is to the defined architecture specifications, requirements, and industry best practices in a timely manner.

• Responsible for guidance and resolution of technical issues and challenges faced by engineering teams in the implementation of standardized industrial automation architectures.

• Work with technology partners, industrial automation providers, equipment providers senior engineering managers, product owners, scrum masters and scrum teams to do release and sprint planning.

• Work closely with global, regional, and local stakeholders on regular basis to bridge the gap between technology and business.

• Actively drive the career growth of engineers and team members by defining technical skills and technical training within the area of your architectural scope.

• Actively Attract world class talent and provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members.

• Represent Maersk on key industry standards forums and work with the team to publish research and represent Maersk at industry and technology standards bodies and forums.

We are looking for


• A total of 10+ years of industry experience with 5+ years of experience in architecting and/or developing and delivering end to end industrial automation products/solutions. Minimum of 3+ years of experience in managing teams.

• Significant Experience in mentoring businesses and stakeholders in the definition of industrial automation focused artefacts such as Lean Value Stream maps and material flow diagram. Sound understating of concepts such as push and pull based automation.

• Significant Experience in architecting and defining standards and specifications for automated facilities and equipment using best practices such as ISA 95 and ISA 99 or equivalents.

• Significant Experience in architecting and defining standards and specifications particular focus on discrete automation in a logistics context (such as automated warehousing or material logistics solutions).

• Significant Experience in architecting and defining standards and specifications with particular for on industrial control systems with the context of open standards and best practices such as the EU machine directives or IEC 61131.

• Significant Experience in architecting and defining standards and specifications with particular for on industrial safety systems with the context of best practices such as the EU machine directives or IEC 61508.

• Experience in architecting and defining standards and specifications for integrated networking.

• Experience in model driven architecture developing physical and logical architectures for infrastructure with an industrial focus.

• Experience in technical coaching and mentoring architects’ and engineering teams in an Agile Environment

• Experience in the application of Architecture Management Frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman, SABSA etc)

• Experience in the application Cyber Security Controls and Mitigations in architectural designs and Application of security frameworks such as ISO 27001, SABSA, COBIT, ISA-99/ISO 62443 and or NIST.

• Is familiar with the planning, estimating and execution of programmes of development work to time, budget and quality targets. The identification of the resources needed for development and how this will be met with an effective supply capacity. The alignment of development activity and deliverables with agreed architectures and standards.

• Is familiar with agile principles and values, e.g., the Agile Manifesto. Has practical experience in software development with agile methods, e.g., Scrum or Kanban with an infrastructure as code bias.

• Is familiar with identifying new and emerging technologies, products, services, methods, and techniques. Can assess their relevance and the potential impacts (both threats and opportunities) upon business enablers, cost, performance, or sustainability. Can communicate emerging technologies and their impact.
