As our Lead Technical Program Manager, you will be leading a team of Project Managers and Scrum Masters to manage multiple cross-functional projects and own the responsibility of implementing and improving on our agile scrum process.

Lead Technical Program Manager

Air and LCL projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Maersk, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers. We are seeking an innovative Technical Program Manager to contribute to the development of new technology products for Air and LCL team at Maersk. In this role, your duties will include overseeing the various stages of product development and collaborating with the software development team. You will also be responsible for the deployment and integration of new products.

To ensure success as a Technical Program Manager, you should exhibit strong leadership skills and extensive experience in technical program management. Top-notch technical program managers combine their business knowledge with technological expertise to promote product innovation. They are able to have challenging conversations around trade-offs between the business and technical teams.

Technical Program Manager Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for scoping and delivering large projects end-to-end. Responsibilities include collection of business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, writing specifications, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the production launch.

  • Contributing ideas to product development initiatives.

  • Planning and managing product development stages.

  • Collaborating with system engineers and software architects.

  • Reporting product development progress to senior managers.

  • Overseeing product deployment and integration.

  • Diagnosing and resolving technical issues.

  • Evaluating product performance metrics and facilitating adjustments.

  • Documenting processes and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

  • Keeping up with advancements in product technologies.


Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer sciences, software engineering, technology management.

  • 5-7 years of experience in technical program management, preferably in a related industry.

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of Agile ceremonies.

  • Experience with program management for large/complex software projects that span multiple teams in geographically disparate locations.

  • Experience in cloud platform development.

  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively with multiple levels including executive leadership team, managers, etc.

  • Ability to work in ambiguity, take initiative, work on a team, and manage differ priorities.

  • Ability to develop data-driven recommendations and action plans.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to collaborate with software engineers, product managers and business product managers.

  • Extensive experience in software product engineering, deployment, and integration.

  • Ability to evaluate product performance metrics, as well as diagnose and resolve issues.

  • Ability to keep up with advancements in the field of technical product development.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable in presenting and facilitating to large audiences.

  • Displays growth mindset qualities, and operates with a servant-leadership approach.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Product Management experience in defining product vision and roadmap for external facing products.

  • Experience with large scale distributed systems

  • A deep understanding of software development, architecture, and infrastructure.

  • Strong desire in building high-performance, highly-available and scalable distributed systems

  • Design and coding skills in some language on some OS platform

  • Good debugging and troubleshooting skills, with an enthusiastic attitude to support and resolve customer problems

  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills; bias towards data-based decision making


The team is based across EU and APAC time-zones primarily. The successful candidate can choose to operate from an office, or has the option to work remotely, with the expectation of some travel.
