The job
As Head of Research, you will head up 15 highly skilled and dedicated employees and be part of the Economics and Monetary Policy department, as well as collaborating with economists across Danmarks Nationalbank, academic institutions and other central banks.
Your responsibilities are diverse and include:
- Ensuring that the section publishes its research in leading academic journals and presents at leading international conferences.
- Facilitating collaborations in Denmark and abroad between the research section and academic institutions and central banks through conferences, workshops and visiting programs.
- Supporting the policy analysis by ensuring that Danmarks Nationalbank uses state of the art methods and conceptual frameworks.
- Ensuring collaboration and fruitful cross-fertilization between research and policy analysis, across different departments of the bank.
- Contributing content to analyses and own research, and serving as a professional sounding board for the section and across the Economics and Monetary Policy department, as well as the rest of Danmarks Nationalbank.
- Briefing and advising members of the board of governors and bank management on policy and research issues.
- People management, including attracting new talent from abroad and in Denmark.
- Participating in the management of the department and the bank.
Overall, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for Research and further developing the section in close collaboration with the department head and the rest of the management team in the Economics and Monetary Policy department and the bank. This includes ensuring a continued strong culture of cooperation, characterized by curiosity, high performance and knowledge sharing.
As a head of section, you are expected to help develop your employees both professionally and personally, by delegating, engaging, listening and inviting new initiatives and ideas and providing constructive feedback. You will focus on results and a positive learning culture, understanding that a good working environment based on team spirit and commitment, is the key to a successful team.
Your profile
You are an internationally recognised researcher with a substantial publication list. You have a PhD degree in microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, monetary economics or finance – ideally within the fields of household finance, macro finance or monetary policy.
In addition, you have an international outlook and an extensive relevant network across geographies and institutions to ensure cutting-edge research.
You have an interest in managing people and strong interpersonal skills. Solid communication skills in English in both written and spoken forms are required, with a proven ability to communicate complex issues to a wider audience.
