We are seeking a senior leader who is passionate about ESG to join our team as the Head of Sustainable Procurement. You will be responsible for strategically integrating APMM’s ESG strategy into Source to Contract and Buying processes. You will also establish a consolidated ESG procurement framework that is integrated into procurement’s category strategies and processes, drive the supplier ESG collaboration and engagement in a strategic manner, upskill the procurement organization for ESG as key skillset for ‘procurement manager of future’, and digitally enable the ESG procurement process to accelerate the ESG across supply chain.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Environmental, Social, & Governance parameters are integrated as strategic topics across supplier lifecycle stages, guided by overall Maersk ESG ambitions for supply chain
  • Ensure that Procurement establishes itself as a center of collaboration and supplier engagement on ESG topics and is the lead on supplier relationships with an end-to-end visibility on supplier capability building on Sustainability. This includes supplier ESG collaboration beyond compliance and taking part in supplier ESG capacity building with our key high-risk suppliers through investments/advisory on ESG co – development projects

  • Ensure that risk-based/strategic Maersk suppliers (direct and vendors of suppliers) are compliant with minimum ESG requirements, incl. preparation for upcoming legislations
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including corporate sustainability, operations, and finance, to integrate sustainable procurement principles into procurement processes
  • Ensure comprehensive visibility on suppliers’ ESG compliance, history of procurement engagement and ESG Performance. Sustainable Procurement needs to provide a consolidated view on supplier ESG compliance, risk/opportunity picture and performance monitoring
  • Sustainable Procurement needs to ensure that ESG is one of the primary criteria in supplier-related decision-making and that the sustainable procurement team can support Maersk stakeholders with relevant knowledge and expertise
  • Conduct supplier assessments and audits to ensure compliance with sustainability standards defined under Commit rules, such as environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria
  • Prepare and present reports on sustainable procurement performance, progress, and impact to leadership and stakeholders

We are looking for:

  • Prior experience in running large ESG programs
  • Passion for sustainability, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of sustainability standards, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), or other relevant sustainability frameworks
