The Pricing Optimization Lead will spearhead our journey towards industry-best pricing visibility across our 13 product families within Maersk. This includes scoping, developing and rolling out capabilities as part of a company-wide pricing transformation program, establishing a future ready pricing engine for Maersk. As a frontrunner in using data for smart pricing, you will be leading optimization, standardization and development of our end-to-end price visibility and data usage across the pricing process. This includes solidifying needs across stakeholder groups and applying best practices from relevant industries. You are furthermore expected to contribute with thought leadership on pricing visibility and optimization, establishing reusable capabilities which can be applied across Maersk products in the coming years.
You must be comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment and be able to think big while paying careful attention to detail. This is a highly visible position that interact at all levels of the company. You must have the ability to quickly formulate plans that are deeply backed by data and drive execution across many work functions and teams simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- You will play a key role in realizing the potential of our global pricing initiative, a cornerstone in Maersk’s 2030 vision, by spearheading the journey of Pricing Optimization, driving pricing automation experimentation, developing visibility and rolling out solutions across our regional and frontline teams
- You will work closely with our wider Platforms-, Technology- and Analytics team in realizing our 2023 roadmap while creating the roadmap for 2024 and beyond. This includes developing tools to be used already in the next ocean contract season and driving awareness of benefits from applying smarter pricing
- You will be responsible for the identification, planning and coordination of a set of related projects within price optimization to handle their interdependencies and accelerate initiative realization over the coming years
- Along with the wider team and colleagues across regions and countries, you will define business requirements, and translation of requirements into operational plans. This includes how we best incorporate price recommendation/automation in our global pricing engine
- You will inspire and motivate teams to accomplish big tasks and be a go-to person for price optimization related topics within the company
- You will engage with your peers and stakeholders to identify opportunities, actively seek out areas of ambiguity that impact our ability to accelerate price optimization and define strategies to apply analytical approaches to resolve ambiguity, bring focus and clear methodology.
- You will communicate with senior leaders and stakeholders across Maersk. You will be expected to support key strategic decisions by delivering high quality analysis and conclusions through written documents and memos.
- Be a pragmatic problem solver, applying judgment and experience to balance trade-offs between competing interests. You will be flexible, adapting your approach to meet the needs of the team, the customers, and the project or product.
- Lead and actively participate in Price Visibility reviews, aligning teams towards coherent testing, roll-out and value realization. You bring clarity to complexity, probe assumptions, illuminate pitfalls, and foster shared understanding.
What we are looking for
- 5+ years experience in a technical role with high proficiency within SQL, Power BI, Python and other relevant applications
- Demonstrated track record of data driven story telling and crafting compelling strategies leveraging analytical insights, structuring complex ideas to drive clarity, consensus and simplify decision making processes
- Proven transformation track record, through a highly structured approach, strong written and verbal communication and change management
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and earn trust with stakeholders ranging across levels at the Maersk operating functions.
- An MBA or Masters degree in economics, statistics, or other engineering and science disciplines is preferred, not mandatory.
