We are looking for a Regional Head of Safety and Resilience (S&R – which covers Health, Safety, Environment, Security & Business Resilience) Europe at Maersk!

This role is expected to be placed in Copenhagen, under special circumstances it can be based throughout Europe where Maersk has an office location. Under all circumstances you must be able to demonstrate flexibility and able to travel as required throughout the region with occasional global travel.

You will lead a team of 8 Area S&R Managers based across Europe and will report directly to the Global Head of S&R A. P. Moller – Maersk (APMM) as well as being an active member of the Global S&R Leadership Team.
Key responsibilities
In this role you will be responsible for leading, developing, and deploying the strategy for continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Business Resilience across the landside operations of our ‘Fulfilled by’ (e.g. warehouses) and ‘Transported by’ operations. The role collaborates to achieve the aspiration in line with the APMM ESG and Integrator objectives.
Some of your main responsibilities will be:
- Leading and coaching a team of functional experts spanning Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Business Resilience within the region
- Maintaining and developing structure and operating systems that enables continuous identification and management of risk to prevent and protect people from serious harm, while securing our customer’s cargo and supply chains
- Ensuring that the S&R teams within scope are suitably qualified and have the needed skills and training, while continuously improving their competence levels in close collaboration with our People Function
- Collaborating with other S&R leaders within APMM to share knowledge and expertise, routinely and constructively challenging the status quo to raise the bar higher across APMM
- Work collaboratively with senior stakeholders across the business to enable identified growth opportunities for our business
- Establish workplan, implementing global standards for HSSE and BR with level 1 assurance process for the region under their scope
- Enable positive outcomes at the frontline, by having cohesive way of working between center, region, area, and sites
We are looking for
Our ideal candidate is well-structured with excellent collaboration skills and has a good understanding of and a background within the landside logistic business. We value our unique team, and are looking for someone who shares our vision of teamwork being the backbone of all we do.
Furthermore, we are looking for someone who has:
- Understanding of and experience in the landside logistics business
- Several years of experience in senior roles leading teams responsible for HSE, Security and/or Business Resilience in large regional organizations
- Several years of experience within HSE, Security or Business Resilience disciplines.
- A university degree within Health, Safety, Environment or Security, Business Resilience.
- Recognized international certifications and trainings associated with the role
- Excellent collaborative skills and the ability to connect and create fellowship across a wide variety of stakeholders across different geographies and levels, internally and externally including government agencies and industry bodies.
- Confidence in and the ability to articulate well towards senior leaders embracing full scope of responsibilities
- Proven experience in developing and implementing strategies relating to Safety and Resilience (HSSE) at a regional and corporate level
- Awareness and understanding of global and regional HSSE trends with knowledge of the regulatory landscape in multiple European countries with the ability to align regional strategies and influence global corporate goals
Fluency in English, both written and spoken is a requirement.
