We are looking for a Senior Project Manager a global mind set and a positive "can-do" attitude to our dedicated team in Vestas.

Sales Global Construction Management Global Tools

Vestas Global Construction Management, established under the CSO, is a bridge to the regional Sales Business Units to improve to the company’s revenue by promoting top-line construction business development. This is obtained mainly by coordinating global continuous construction improvement and by increasing project scope e.g. EPC within Renewable Energy Plant Solution sales projects.

The sub department Global Tools is anchored in a centralised function in Copenhagen. The segment is in essence a ‘rental shop’ owning, handling and distributing highly specialised tools to various internal customers. The tools are used when producing, transporting, installing and servicing Vestas product offerings, both the 20 years old products and the innovative solutions of tomorrow. The majority of the +200 team members are placed in 7 tools centres (USA, Brazil, Australia, China, India, Germany and Denmark) geographically placed as close to the end customers as possible covering the 86 different countries Vestas operates in today.

Overall purpose for Global Tools is to supply our customers with safe, high quality tools at the right time to a competitive cost. The segment is well anchored in the value chain as a part of Vestas truly global matrix organization. A key role is to liaise with group functions such as Vestas Power Solutions (R&D), Global Procurement, Sales Business Units and the Production Business Units.

The department has two key focuses besides the overall operational purpose:

  1. Ensure value chain influence through a common Global Tools voice during launch of new products and solutions.
  2. Continuous improvement of existing product range through timely and structured handling of initiatives, improving safety, quality, delivery or costs through global programs and functions.

This gatekeeper role retains clear responsibilities ensuring structured governance and project management throughout the value chain. Upstream feedback of proper requirement specifications on new products, as well as downstream implementation ensuring a fast “time to market” of new solutions and products are core elements.

Responsibilities
This position is responsible for delivery, management and execution of project portfolios within the tolerances and boundaries of time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits.

Primary activities are divided within five areas:
Create and maintain project portfolio overview (scope, resources, timelines, risks, budget)

  • Responsible for prioritising, escalating and mitigating portfolio risks and translating them into business risks across Vestas value chain
  • Ensure and maintain a 12 months resource and budget forecasts within the portfolio.
  • Report and escalate portfolio overview to Global Construction Management and stakeholders

Initiate projects

  • Align and sign off relevant project scope within the value chain
  • Representing Global Tools in the development modules and product functions

Maintain adequate project progress and stakeholder alignment

  • Ensure unified framework and methodology for all projects in the portfolio
  • Ensure Global Tools is participating in decision forums e.g. Gate Reviews
  • Communicate and escalate changes to high level strategic initiatives and plans

Ensure project excellence throughout the Global Tools organisation

  • Coach and train PM’s in project planning and execution
  • Support and guide the Global Tools organisation in project planning and execution

Participate in initiating the strategic translation supporting management in strategy deployment

Qualifications

  • Experience with projects within construct in a global matrix structured environment
  • Experience with change management
  • Experience with stakeholder management
  • Solid educational background with a relevant business, engineering or finance degree at Master level or above
  • It would be an advantage with relevant certificates with project management and change management e.g. Prince2, PMP or similar
