BLAST has rapidly established itself as a leading esports rights and IP owner, primarily within Counter-Strike, creating the annual BLAST Premier tournament. In 2020 BLAST created and/or delivered brand new IPs and competitions; BLAST Bounty Hunt – a dota2 tournament, the BLAST Valorant Twitch Invitational, Spike Nations by Twitch and the European First Strike Valorant tournament on behalf of Riot Games. In 2021 this expanded to working with Fortnite for the FNCS All-Star Showdown and creating BLAST Titans, an Apex Legends Tournament.

One of the more recent developments in BLAST is the construction of the epicenter for global E-sport in Brøndby. At the location in Brøndby, they have built a 2300 sqm. Studio with room for state-of-the-art equipment, tournament participants, and fans. The hope is to build something huge that will attract elite e-sports competitors from all over the world to compete in E-sports. This has all been made possible due to funding of over 100 million from the investors. One of the investors is ‘the growth fund’ in Denmark and the director Erik Sorensen explains how they see an opportunity in BLAST to make good money “this can either happen by creating a global organization, which we can list on the stock market or by collaborating with one of the bigger companies in the entertainment and media industry, who wants to develop the organization

BLAST comprises around 70 employees and is growing towards 100 based in both London and Copenhagen. The working environment in BLAST is characterized by a young and vibrant environment within a company still early on its journey with plenty of room to help create, impact and excel personally and professionally.

The position

As the HR Director within BLAST, you will build and implement the HR infrastructure that supports BLAST’s rapid growth and maintain the culture. Processes needs to be professionalized and formalized. You will get the chance to build from the ground up fit-for purpose people processes that; 1) increases employee happiness satisfaction and security and 2) increase employee and company efficiency.

Furthermore, some of the key responsibilities will be developing and executing recruitment strategies, drive the development and engagement of a high-performance culture, give advice on legal question regarding labor law and overall champion mission, vision and values both inside and outside BLAST.

You will have responsibility of one HR Manager, who will be reporting directly to you. You will play a crucial role in forming a people committee, which will consist of the Growth Manager, BLAST’s Legal Counsel and the HR Manager, who will have a dotted reporting into them. Management wants to hear your opinion on legal questions, identifying high performers and future leaders and best practices in HR process, so don’t be afraid to speak you mind and present you opinion to senior management

Responsibilities

As a HR director you will:

  • Devise and implement process for basic HR admin activities and liaise with third part providers
  • Advice management on employment law and legal questions about labor law
  • Designing and implementing recruitment process. This includes supporting hiring manager in the recruitment process, develop the employer brand to attract the best talent and ensure onboarding of new employees.
  • Design and lead inspiring development and engagement initiatives that champion a high-performance culture which supports our mission and business objectives
  • Work with managers from across the business to identify high performers and future leaders to be nurtured, developed and fast-tracked
  • You will work closely with the Executive team to ensure that everything possible is being done to drive Diversity & Inclusion within BLAST and through our recruitment process
  • Champion BLAST’s mission, vision & values, both inside and outside the organization.
  • You will be responsible for implementing policies and measures to increase employee welfare, satisfaction, and retention
  • Drive plans for recurring social events, activities and bringing the two offices together with one culture


Requirements


  • Background in building and implementing HR structures and processes.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a senior HR-related role across the whole employee life cycle
  • Experience with employment law and general Danish legislation
  • Ideally a good understanding of the English employment law and legislation
  • Ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches to affect business objectives, productivity, and development of people
  • A strong project manager capable of leading a project from start to finish
  • A great communicator, who enjoys presenting and can plan, present and execute trainings
