The Fundraising Advisor/ Programme Coordinator (FA/PC) supports DCA’s humanitarian programmes with grants management, project implementation, administration and M&E. The FA/PC will be working under the management and guidance of Head of HRMA and HRMA thematic leads.

The DCA Humanitarian Response and Mine Action (HRMA) Unit currently consists of 20 employees including 4 roving experts based outside DCA HQ in Copenhagen. The humanitarian programmes include strategic interventions in areas of humanitarian mine action and protection, cash-based programming and risk education, emergency livelihoods, psycho-social support, risk mitigation and capacity building of local actors.

HRMA provides advice, support and quality assurance to humanitarian operations in which DCA is doing direct, co- or partner led implementation and ensures coordination of the support provided to the humanitarian operations including back stopping support on fundraising efforts, grant managements, monitoring of budgets, project/programme implementation and compliance to donor requirements.

Key tasks and responsibilities

Grants management and fundraising:
  • Support Country Offices in development of humanitarian response and humanitarian mine action projects in coordination with GPDR (DCA fundraising unit)
  • Ensure high quality donor proposals through quality assurance and dialogue with Country Offices (including DANIDA, EU and US requirements)
  • Ensure that programme documentation is timely produced, including Reports to document outputs and outcomes

Project Support and Administration:
  • Ensure that programmes and projects are timely implemented in accordance with Programme Strategies and project documents
  • Support DCA Country Directors and Head of Programmes in understanding and utilising the DCA administrative procedures, PPM, maconomy and intranet as required for humanitarian response
  • Responsible for timely use of all funds including Danida earmarked, unearmarked and special grants in specific geographical areas

  • Ensure that all humanitarian programmes including CO and partners have established procedures in line with the Core Humanitarian Standards

Key Competencies
The successful candidate will have documented experience with grants management and project support within the humanitarian sector. You should:
  • Have at least 2 years of field experience in humanitarian assistance and/or mine action, preferably in a managerial role
  • Be able to travel – a minimum of 6-8 weeks of annual international travel should be expected
  • Demonstrate understanding of the project management cycle and ability to use logframes, Theory of Change and M&E
  • Have proven experience in writing proposals and reports to institutional donors such as Danida, US Department of State, EU
  • Fluent in English, French fluency is an advantage
  • Have a degree in international development, social or political science or equivalent
  • Be committed, flexible, result oriented and possess strong interpersonal skills
  • Be a persuasive and clear communicator, with an eye for detail
  • Have the ability to manage a busy workday with conflicting deadlines, and have an organised, structured approach
