Lead Engineer - Developer Portal

In this Lead Engineer role, you will be working on the maersk.com platform as part of a newly formed API team based in Copenhagen, developing the core capability that will drive the public API Developer Portal and supporting our business platforms exposing APIs for external consumption, taking Maersk.com to the next level of enhanced customer experience.

We have embarked on this journey to create a developer community around the data exchanges that run most of the Ocean and Logistics & Services business and count on you to be a technical reference on the Engineering Team responsible for delivering this product.
In this role you will be the go-to engineer for delivery and implementation of the Maersk Developer Portal, making sure its functionalities meet the needs of our customers and partners and ensuring the solution is scalable and high quality. You will also help expanding our in-house engineering capabilities by being a Lead Full Stack Engineer and bringing a fresh set of knowledge to a team composed of Frontend Engineers, Backend Engineers and Business Analysts.
You will build a strong relationship with our Platform Product Owners as well as API Platform Owners to maintain product roadmap and development while introducing innovation and best practices. You will also have a fundamental role in delivering the concept of Developer Relations in Maersk, being the technical go-to person for evangelization of the Developer Portal adoption.

You will help building inhouse engineering and delivery capabilities and responsible for delivering to the plan with quality while ensuring scalability & maintainability of the solution.

The role will report directly to the Engineering Director responsible for APIs in Maersk.com and you should be comfortable working with subject matter experts, provide thought leadership and experience with new business applications platforms. You will be accountable for delivery excellence, customer delight, and employee satisfaction within the delivery team and responsible for grooming competency in line with roadmap.

• You are a well-rounded engineer with experience in development of successful products in the industry.
• You possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science (or equivalent experience).
• More than 8 years industry engineering experience, in either a software or analytics-intensive industrial company, as part of an agile software engineering team, building and running highly available customer-facing products.
• Expertise in API management platforms and API Developer Portals – knowledge in product management, lifecycle, Developer Portal go-to-market strategy, API monetization models.
• Expertise in at least one compiled programming language (Java, C#, Spring Boot, etc) and its development ecosystem (compilers, build tools, testing, logging, debugging, monitoring tools, libraries, etc).
• Expertise in behaviour driven development and related software (Cucumber, etc.).
• Good familiarity with web server applications, web protocols, authentication, authorisation.
• Experience with designing microservice architectures, APIs (REST, Graph QL, etc.), scaling web sites, performance tuning.
• Familiarity with building customer-facing UIs - Experience in Vue.js or similar is a plus
• Working knowledge of technologies like Apache Hadoop, Cassandra, Kafka; Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes and cloud technologies, e.g. Azure.
• Good social skills, ability to successfully collaborate with people of different personalities and ways of working
