Global Business Development is looking for a team member for R&D Contracts
Do you want to be part of a dynamic and engaging team? Do you know how to manoeuvre in the intersection between science, business and law? We are looking for a Senior Contract Manager to draft, negotiate and finalise Research & Development agreements with external partners worldwide in support of Novo Nordisk’s R&D portfolio.
About the department
R&D Contracts is part of Global Business Development which has colleagues in both Måløv, Denmark and Boston, USA. The department consists of 25 colleagues with various backgrounds (legal, science and business). You will be reporting to the Head of R&D Contracts and will join a team of 8 dedicated colleagues with similar responsibilities. You place of work will be in Måløv, Denmark. The primary goal of Global Business Development is to support the Novo Nordisk R&D pipeline by establishing collaborations with external partners.
The position
In close collaboration with R&D colleagues in Denmark, USA, UK and China, you will have independent responsibility for drafting and negotiating R&D agreements with academia, biotech companies and other industry partners globally.
As a Senior Contract Manager your aim is to ensure appropriate business and legal terms for Novo Nordisk with main focus on intellectual property rights and knowledge transfer to Novo Nordisk. R&D agreements comprise among others collaborative research agreements, technology licenses, Postdoc and PhD agreements, confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements and consultancy agreements. All contracts are drafted and negotiated in English. Most negotiations are handled over emails, tele- and video conferences, but the position might require limited travel activity.
You will also be involved with cross-functional assignments, legal advice, compliance issues, maintenance of contract templates and knowledge tools, presentations etc. The job will enable you to establish strong networks across the organisation and with external partners worldwide.
This is a temporary position for 14 months.
Qualifications
•Relevant Master’s degree in law or business law or other relevant area (contracts, business, or science).
•Experience in contract drafting and negotiation as well as understanding of the underlying legal aspects.
•Excellent stakeholder management and relation building skills.
•Solid IPR knowledge and experience with collaborations between the pharmaceutical industry and academia.
•A certain level of scientific insight and good business understanding.
•+5 years of working experience from a similar job function with a law firm, life science industry or research institution.
•Experience with GDPR
•Experience with Health Care Professional (HCP) and Health Care Organisation (HCO) interaction regulation and business ethic matters related to the pharmaceutical industry.
The position will require an ability to drive multiple projects and negotiations simultaneously – leading to finalising well-balanced agreements completed in a focussed and timely manner. You have strong communication and interpersonal skills and are able to communicate complicated issues in a clear and concise manner both orally and in writing (in English).
You must be a team-player with a positive attitude, a high degree of independence and drive. Excellent stakeholder management skills are required, and you collaborate well across boundaries and thrive working in a busy, international environment. Across your tasks, you will work closely together with colleagues in the Legal, Patents and Finance department.
