Project Director to lead large scale cardiovascular outcomes trial programme

Due to an expanding portfolio of drug development projects in Novo Nordisk we are right now seeking an ambitious, scientifically strong Project Director to drive execution of large scale cardiovascular outcomes trials for people with diabetes.

About the department

You will join an expanding and dynamic area with responsibility for development of a range of projects within diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. The area is overall responsible for clinical development (clinical testing in humans from phase 1 through phase 3 and phase 4) of a large, diverse and expanding portfolio and you will be part of an inspiring work environment with focus on patient needs, science and personal development. Your place of work will be Søborg, Denmark (just outside Copenhagen).

About the position

You will be responsible for planning and executing large scale clinical trials with a promising new medicine. The project has initiated one large scale clinical trial and is in the process of planning a second, so there will be a focus on clinical operational aspects, internal and external stakeholder management, but you will also be involved in commercial and scientific discussions as well as considerations related to preparations for regulatory submissions and launch.

Due to the expansive and visionary nature of the area, you will also be involved in more high-level strategic activities and improvement work. The job holds amble opportunities for personal development and your interactions with multiple skills areas involved in drug development provides a unique learning opportunity within drug development. You will work in close collaboration with a Project Vice President and refer to the Corporate Vice President who is heading up the area, GLP-1, CV & Outcomes.

Qualifications

You have a relevant scientific background (MSc, MD, PhD or similar) and experience within drug development as well as:

  • Formal project management training and business insight
  • Successful project management experience from leading cross functional projects
  • Thorough business and R&D value chain understanding and experience from positions within the R&D value chain. One or more of these have included project/managerial responsibility

We expect you to be ambitious, driven and have excellent collaboration skills, combined with an ability to make decisions and set direction. You can lead by example and it will be expected that you act as a Novo Nordisk Way role model by being accountable, ambitious, responsible, engaged with stakeholders, open and honest and ready for change. In addition, we expect that you have good coaching skills and an ability to support individuals to improve their current performance and future potential.

You have experience dealing with a complex stakeholder landscape and you are willing to learn and embrace new ways of working as well as new ways of conducting clinical development. Experience with line management is an advantage to become successful in the position.
