Head of Quality Assurance (QA) to Food & Feed

Chr. Olesen may not be known to all, but it is one of the 150 biggest companies in Denmark, when measured on turnover. The reason is that since 1885, Chr. Olesen has been excellent in providing complex ingredients and solutions to their customers across Food, Feed, and Pharma. 90 engaged employees, with 40 people in the headquarters, and the rest in strategically selected markets, are dedicated to source and develop various product solutions that the customers seek. The customers are global corporations that have high quality requirements.
As Head of QA, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of 3 academic and 3 student assistants in Denmark, and 1 academic in Brazil. You will also collaborate closely with the Senior Management and will report to the CHRO and with a dotted line to the COO. Working location will be in the headquarter in Gentofte.
The Job
The Head of QA is overall responsible for ensuring a high level of compliance, hands-on quality, and long-term quality controls according to standards used in the organization across the Food and Feed product portfolio. In your role, you manage the international quality policy and quality system (QMS), while also ensuring that products and suppliers adhere to the high-quality requirements. At all times, you expertly balance between commercial considerations and business needs. Some of your recurring tasks, either managed by yourself or your team, are:
- Ongoing update and maintenance of the quality system and ISO / FAMI-QS / FCA OVOCOM certifications to ensure compliance with demands according to legislation and standards.
- Update and maintenance of the quality system to fulfil requirements from stakeholders (customers) and update the supplier- and product documentation databases.
- Issuing documentation packages towards stakeholders including questionnaires etc.
- Perform external audits and controls of suppliers and follow up with corrective actions, while also investigate external auditing procedures for the future.
- Maintain and update knowledge of relevant EU legislation to ensure product safety.
- Be a motivating, developing, and delegating people manager.
The Profile
We expect the ideal candidate, you, to demonstrate cultural awareness, flexibility, and experience in adhering to compliance and procedures, and with the ability to sell it to and engage your surroundings. You are business oriented, curious, change-oriented, and persistent in implementing new ways of doing things, training, and developing best practices. Towards the business, you present yourself as trustworthy, credible, and realistic, and you know when to work with and stop innovative new ideas about products.
Professionally, your experience includes experience from a performance-driven environment that has provided you with an in-depth knowledge of the product ingredients for Food and/or Feed. Other experiences are:
- In-depth knowledge of the product safety rapid-alert system and the claims handling processes around products.
- Experienced in Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Risk Assessment with relevance for product portfolio of Food (nutrition) and Feed.
- EU and National legislative requirement (Food and Feed).
- HACCP, GMP, SSOP, PRP, and audit/inspection experience of production facilities.
- Insight in some or all certification schemes about food and feed safety and hygiene: FAMI QS, GMP+, FCA- OVOCOM, ISO 9001 and other ISO series, IFS, FSCC22000 and BRC.
- Academic credentials in Food Science or a related area that supports your professional skills.
- Fluent in Danish, and fluency in English, both orally and in writing.
- Strong ability to navigate in IT- and Quality systems.
