Verisure is seeking a talented, innovative, passionate Group Head of Compliance to join our Headquarter organization. The Group Head of Compliance will report to the Group Chief Legal Officer and will be responsible for leading the Group Compliance Program and related initiatives. The role will manage two direct reports based in Geneva and have a unique opportunity to shape the compliance culture and function within the fast-growing Company.

The role will work closely with the business leaders, including the Senior Management Team, leaders in the Markets and functional heads across the group to strengthen a high impact, industry leading compliance culture and embed world-class compliance practices across the organization.

The role is ideally based in Geneva, Switzerland, but could be based in one of our head offices in Malmö (Sweden), Copenhagen (Denmark), Brussels (Belgium), Chatenay-Malabry (France) or Brentford (UK)

Our combined legal, compliance and regulatory advocacy team consists of over 45 lawyers and other professionals across the organization that come from 15 countries, with a strong gender balance across all levels of the team, including in the group legal management team. We are well-integrated, working closely together across countries and the organization to leverage each other’s experience, to develop best practice tools and templates, and to deliver our business colleagues seamless, best-in-class legal partnership.

Key Responsibilities

The Head of Compliance, in partnership with the CLO, will lead compliance strategy and efforts across the organization and ensure that he or she consistently provides a best-in-class and impactful compliance program. In order to accomplish this, he/she will be responsible for the following:

  • Developing, throughout the organization, a culture of compliance, including personal accountability for compliance at all levels of the organization.
  • Defining a compliance strategy, effectively developing and managing a compliance program, including governance, culture, process, reporting and monitoring.
  • Working with our country management teams to ensure all areas of risk are properly mitigated in each country and territory and the allocation of resources appropriately matches the level of risk.
  • In collaboration with the CLO, providing business judgment on all compliance matters affecting the organization, serving as a trusted advisor and counsel to the Senior Management Team and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Developing appropriate training on compliance, organizational standards and risk topics, policies and/or procedures and rolling them out to managers and employees across the organization.
  • Working with senior management and, as appropriate, the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors to undertake:
    • Systematic assessment and management of compliance risk
    • Establishment/amendment of relevant written policies, procedures and standards of conduct
    • Internal auditing and monitoring
    • Review, amendment and management of communication and whistle-blower processes
    • Implementation/development of corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provide proactive guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.

  • Acting as the primary compliance contact point and internal expert with respect to compliance matters requiring external reporting to, or inquiries made by, regulatory and law enforcement agencies.
  • Identifying, proposing and implementing appropriate technology and compliance assurance systems to facilitate compliance with current and future laws, rules and regulations internationally.
  • Keeping abreast of all international and national compliance trends and developments in order to communicate potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk to appropriate departments as a means of on-going policy development and revision.
  • Identifying, proposing, implementing and managing such other activities as may be required to maintain a world-class compliance program.

We are looking for a high caliber individual, to become an integral member of our high performing Group Legal, Compliance and Regulatory Advocacy Team, with the ability to have a real impact in the business and the organization from the start.

The Group Head of Compliance will have demonstrable knowledge of advising across a range of compliance matters in an in-house environment within a multinational organization.

  • Master’s degree with at least 10 years of professional experience.
  • Proven track record of establishing a compliance culture within a multinational organization is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have experience of driving major change across complex organizations.
  • Experience of working with Senior Management, such as Board of Directors and/or an Audit Committee.
  • Experience of leading a company’s compliance program on a global or regional level, including the code of business conduct and ethics, hotline and related internal investigations, and overseeing conflicts resolution.
  • Demonstrated experience of critically analyzing relevant compliance standards, regulatory guidelines and requirements and identifying the potential impact on the business operations.
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of how to structure, develop, motivate and inspire an effective compliance extended team that is viewed as a genuine partner to the business.
