The University seeks to appoint a professor to the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine to commence as soon as possible.
The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (ICMM) has 250 members and offers a dynamic and international scientific environment encompassing five research programs and four high profile Research Centers. The ICMM aims to produce research with a high international impact focusing on the functional cell, its genetic components and molecular mechanisms in a biomedical context. The ICMM offers modern laboratory facilities and administrative support. Within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences core facilities and other experimental platforms are also available. The ICMM is also responsible for a number of undergraduate and graduate teaching programs at the University of Copenhagen and the scientists at ICMM are responsible for conducting high-quality research-based teaching. Job description
When considering applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level within the area of cellular stress responses with particular emphasis on cancer and aging related diseases. A number of signaling pathways such MAP kinases, p38 and JNK are suspected to impact on pathological cellular changes. The fact that they are also important in relation to inflammation underpins their potential in future attempts to understand a wide variety of human diseases.
The professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

After the expiry of the deadline for applications, the authorized recruitment manager selects applicants for assessment on the advice of the Appointments Committee. - Research, including publication/academic dissemination in major international scientific journals such as Science and Nature.
- Research-based teaching, including associated examination, and experience with course leadership
- Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
- Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
- Academic assessments
Required qualifications

- Document a high degree of original academic production at a high international level, including considerable contributions to the development of the academic discipline
- Manage research and other management functions, e.g. engage in the university’s external academic activities, as well as knowledge and technology transfer
- Document a well developed ability to orchestrate collaborations with clinicians and private enterprise
- Provide research-based teaching
- Be fluent in Danish and English
The professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.
