The Research Unit of Nuclear Medicine, Department of Clinical Research, SDU, invites applications for a position as assistant professor in the field of Small Animal Imaging to be filled as soon as possible and for a period of 4 years.

Current research lines of the Research Unit of Nuclear Medicine are routine diagnostics via innovative imaging modalities, especially including PET/SPECT/CT. The research unit carries out cutting-edge research in the area of molecular imaging and radioisotope-based therapies together with leading basic research groups from the faculties of Health Sciences and Natural Sciences, SDU.

The small animal PET/SPECT/CT imaging unit within the Danish Molecular Bioimaging Center DaMBIC was officially launched in January 2014 by the Department of Nuclear Medicine. The unit acts as a core-facility and intends to develop and offer pre-clinical imaging services to a broader community of internal and external researchers.

Research profile and tasks:
It will be expected that the new assistant professor develops her/his research area in collaboration with these research areas. The candidate will be part of the daily operative management of the unit, which will include participation in imaging-on-demand services, advisory functions for users, setting up and performing data analyses, data reporting to users and technical support of the equipment.

The candidate will be expected to be involved in the on-going research with possibility of establishing own research in the area of small animal molecular imaging that may allow for expanding service options of the unit.

Teaching profile and tasks:

The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching at courses and supervision of students within the BSc and MSc programs.

Expectations of qualifications:
The successful candidate will be expected to have

• a PhD degree in medical physics, bioengineering, biotechnology, or a related field.
• some post doc experience
• research experience documented by international peer-reviewed journal articles
• experience with molecular imaging in mice or rats and in pharmacokinetic modelling
• documented organizational/communication skills
• a documented record of teaching experience and teaching skills in the respective field at bachelor and master level.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

• 3 scientific peer-reviewed publications considered by the applicant to the most important for this position. Please notice that one pdf.- or docx.-file must be attached for each publication.
• a teaching portfolio detailing the candidate’s prior teaching experience, teaching skills, and teaching philosophy
• a research plan detailing the candidate’s ideas and plans for her/his future research work.

Danish is not required initially however, must be mastered within the first two years of employment. In cooperation with the language centre “Lærdansk”, SDU offers specialised language courses.
