The Danish Institute for Advanced Study (DIAS) seeks an outstanding candidate to fill a position at the Assistant Professor level in the field of intelligent supply chain engineering management.

The position is a joint position at DIAS and The Faculty of Engineering, Department of Technology and Innovation and starts August 01, 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. This position will be attached to the Centre for Sustainable Supply Chain Engineering (CSSCE) in Odense, and the successful candidate is expected to participate in DIAS activities and interdisciplinary cooperation in Odense regularly.

The DIAS Assistant Professor appointment is a unique position for the highly ambitious “rising star” that is looking for a long-term position in a very strong interdisciplinary environment, permitting the candidate to pursue ideas with groundbreaking potential. The position runs for four years followed by the possibility for a subsequent two years of employment as an Associate Professor - this extension will be based on an evaluation procedure. Note that teaching obligations will be reduced compared to a regular Assistant Professor position at SDU.

The successful candidate should hold a PhD degree related to one of the following areas: Industrial Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering with relevance to Operations and Supply Chain Management. Candidates with a Ph.D. degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Information Technology will also be considered, but it will further be required that they also have strong operations and supply chain management background.

The candidate will have two affiliations and is anticipated to contribute actively to both environments

DIAS
DIAS aims to inspire ground-breaking ideas through the meeting of minds across the sciences and humanities. There is a strong focus on the talent development of young researchers who work on game-changing ideas. So far, 18 DIAS Fellows from five faculties are gathered here, and the applicant will become one of them. Eminent academics are appointed as chairs and senior fellows, and form the backbone of the D-IAS as they catalyze activities within their field.

Thus, DIAS offers an interdisciplinary research environment, where you will interact with the strongest researchers from the five faculties at University of Southern Denmark. Furthermore, DIAS offers substantial support in applications for further external funding from prestigious national and European funding schemes, e.g., Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions and the ERC starting grants.

The successful candidate should have a strong international profile, a strong record of research publications, a strong track record of attracting / involving in research funding and have demonstrated exceptional potential to excel in scientific research.

We expect the applicants to engage in the development of the research unit actively and contribute positively to DIAS as a whole.

Centre for Sustainable Supply Chain Engineering
SDU Centre for Sustainable Supply Chain Engineering (CSSCE), focuses on doing cutting-edge research within the field of supply chain management under the theme of sustainable / green supply chain, digital supply chain, blockchain applications in supply chain, supply chain information technologies, circular economy, climate change, life cycle assessment focusing on sustainable supply chain, corporate sustainability, and digital circular supply chain.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Please check links for more information about salary and taxation.

Teaching obligations will be reduced compared to a regular assistant professor position at SDU.

To qualify for the position of assistant professor, you must have obtained a PhD-degree by the application deadline.

  • A complete list of publications, indicating which publications are most relevant for the position

  • For any publication with a co-author, a co-author statement must be submitted as part of the pdf-file
  • Three letters of recommendation from acknowledged international researchers should be submitted directly by the references to Sanne Lefevre ([email protected]), mentioning your name and the title of the position in the subject line.   • Research and publication plan for the next three years,including description of the synergy with the department activities as well as the potential for benefitting from the interdisciplinarity in DIAS.
