Director of Communications, Scandinavia – Evaxion Biotech

We are looking for a Director of Communications, who can take the lead and develop an optimal future set-up and framework for communications. Evaxion Biotech (Evaxion) is a combined biotech and software company in rapid growth. Since 2008, Evaxion has been redefining medicine, pioneering the discovery of neo-epitopes and antigens. In short, they have the positive stories and passionate people, and they need someone to build and share their narrative and results.
As Director of Communications, you are close to Senior Management, and report to and collaborate closely with Lars Wegner (CEO), Niels Moeller (CBO and founder) and Sabine Moelleskov (Business Development Manager). Workplace will be Evaxion’s headquarter in Hoersholm.
Setting the scene for communications and primary media touchpoint in Scandinavia
The primary task of the new Director of Communications will be communication targeted to private and small institutional investors. Second, professional communication regarding the stock exchange and funds. In the role, you work across the entire communications value chain, from developing media strategies and value propositions to writing content, managing media contacts, conducting research and competitive analyses, and so much more. You are also the touchpoint for medias across Scandinavia, in close alignment and collaboration with senior management and your colleagues. In this, you work closely with senior management to prepare them for media appearances, and you also ensure that they are on-message and presentation-ready. In all your work and efforts, you ensure that all communications, big and small, reflect Evaxion’s brand integrity.
It is expected that you can increase awareness, presence, and exposure of Evaxion in the mainstream media and across all SoMe platforms. To be successful in this, some of your main responsibilities are to:
- ensure consistency and coherence in the external corporate communication, incl. the communication towards investor relations.
- develop media strategy and plans that promote and position Evaxion.
- manage media relations, pitch stories to relevant country-medias, and ensure press coverage.
- write press / communications related copies (e. g. press releases, blogs, articles, social media content) and briefs.
- monitor and ensure media coverage and ensure alignment with external agencies.
- act as advisor to the spokespersons about internal and external communications activities, e.g., analyst relations, speaking engagements, events, townhalls and trade shows
Experienced entrepreneurial communications executive with passion
We are looking for you, who are independent, responsible, and self-driven, and with a strong motivation for creating your own job. Towards stakeholders, you communicate and interact with ease, and you know when to challenge or just execute. It is natural for you to provide a good service and offer valuable advice. When performing your duties, you are comfortable with diving deep in numbers and data, deducting key points, and presenting your analyses convincingly and enthusiastically. Problems are solved systematically, and organized, and key deadlines are always met in time. Importantly, you are interested business communications, and how communications must be supported by the right technology tools. You combine this with a natural ability to build and develop relations across the organization and externally, and in your interaction with others, you balance empathy with the ability to stay firm on your beliefs.
Professionally, you have experience in following:
- Academic credentials in Communications or Journalism.
- Several years’ experience from a corporate level, where you have become accustomed to working with complex business issues.
- Excellent business and creative writing skills.
- Above-average digital and social media skills, which enable you to identify the proper channels to post the right stories.
- Experience from working with a combination of hands-on and strategic tasks and development of tactical plans.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
