Electrical Electrical Engineering Converter Control
Converter Control is a key area in securing Vestas' leading position within sustainable energy in the future. We develop all converter control and software functionalities for all Vestas turbine families. The department is characterised by very skilled employees who consistently strive to balance creativity with quality. Though our core knowledge, we provide best in class converter solutions meeting system, product and grid requirements.
As a Converter Control Specialist, you will be expected to be the driver for the process development and efficiency improvement within your area. The specialist will be responsible for quality assurance through supervision, documentation and structured reviews.
To be successful in this selection process, you will have an in-depth knowledge and experience with design of control of grid connected 3 phase power electronics converters, combined with a strong background in assessing stability of grid connected converters – this include harmonics, Fault Ride Through, different grid conditions and connections.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to Converter Control technical roadmap and strategy including create proposals for converter control development, tools and test facilities counting investments, coordination and collaboration with external researchers
- Contribute to the annual technology project plans and secure grid connection features are represented on the technology roadmap
- Create requirements to turbine and converter concerning grid connection performance and associated documentation, verification, certification and list of design standards
- Create generic design procedure and verification procedure for converter control (mainly regarding grid compliance), including metrics for quality assurance and design guidelines.
- Deliver generic product tree, function and failure tree to support DFMEA and Tolerance chain analysis of converter control.
Qualifications
- Master of Engineering or Ph.D. preferable within Power or Electrical Engineering.
- At least 10 years of relevant working experience.
- Experience with embedded control for power electronic conversion
- Experience with development and management of industrial control software
- Experience with grid connection of converters and compliance assessment regarding connection codes
- Understanding of TSO's process in shaping connection codes
- Knowledge of different control principles for 3 phase converters & PWM strategies for 3 phase converters.
Competencies
- A strong theoretical background in modelling of converters, their control and the interactions to the grid and experience with implementation, test and verification of converter control and software
- Highly independent and self-initiated, combined with a systematically and structured way of working.
- Strong commitment to having the department delivering good quality in time
- Front figure as a technical leader who are capable of guiding the converter control developers
- Understand the way tasks are handled and the operational setup of Converter Control
- The ability to create professional networks within and outside Vestas
- Strong project scoping and technical leadership skills in a multi-cultural environment.
