About this opportunity
As a Chief Risk Manager, you will be a senior member of Group Market and Counterparty Credit Risk (GMCCR). The unit ensures Nordea's Market and Counterparty Credit Risks are well understood and managed across the group.
In Group Risk Management and Control, we GMCCR must provide challenge and escalation on activities within the firm that impact the quality of the risk management and control framework.
Accountabilities:
- Establish and Maintain frameworks for taking and managing risk across the business
- Including risk appetite, limit, and stress testing frameworks
- Ensure all risks are accurately measured and models are well understood
- Challenge portfolio risks and transaction risks
- Ensure regulatory and internal governance compliance and control.
Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for the risk management frameworks associated with counterparty credit risk, providing independent challenge to the business and supporting the risk management of legal entities through which business is conducted .
- Have oversight of new product approvals, economic and regulatory capital models, model validations and regulatory relations.
- Be involved in analysis and interpretation of key regulatory requirements.
- Lead and contribute to the relevant projects, working groups and committees related to derivatives risk management.
- Positively contribute to the embedding of a risk based culture, coaching, influencing and challenging all colleagues to take personal accountability for risk based decision making.
- Contribute to the Bank’s strategy by developing a strong risk culture.
Copenhagen is the preferred location for the role, however other core locations will be considered. The team embrace the Nordea values and operate with integrity and without boundaries to deliver a robust risk management context.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced financial professional with a deep knowledge of derivative products, pricing and risk. He/she will have excellent stakeholder management skills, be comfortable in front of senior professionals and be an advocate of the importance of a strong risk culture within the bank.
Your background:
- 10 years+ experience operating within a financial markets role, risk management, trading, structuring, finance, quants etc.
- Experience with quantitative concepts in portfolio credit risk management, with demonstrated experience explaining complex assumptions to a non-technical audience.
- Broad financial products knowledge with prior professional experience analysing/modelling derivatives in a risk, trading, or research capacity.
- Deep understanding of the credit and market risks relating to derivatives.
- knowledge of regulatory requirements and future changes, specifically those emanating from Basel and European regulatory authorities.
- Excellent project management, oral and written communication skills, and ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
- Excellent collaborative skills and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Have a strong cultural awareness and also a dynamic approach, willing to take on extra responsibilities when needed.
- Excellent written and spoken English – Nordea official language is English
- High ethical standards with demonstrated integrity, tact, and diplomacy.
- Candidate is likely to have an excellent academic background, including an advanced degree in a quantitative discipline, such as finance, statistics/mathematics, sciences or engineering.
