About Maersk Air Cargo (MAC)

We are located in Lyngby and have more than 25 years of experience with air freight within Europe. We currently operate 18 Boeing 767 based in Cologne (UPS), Leipzig (DHL) and Billund (Maersk). In 2024, we will expand by adding 2 Boeing 777 to our operation in Billund.

We are now looking for an Operations Research Analyst based in our HQ Lyngby. This role is crucial in shaping our network strategy, optimizing operations, and ensuring that MAC stays competitive in a dynamic market.

What you'll be doing:

Conduct Research for New Routes and Opportunities:


  • Identify potential new routes and opportunities through comprehensive research.


  • Analyze market trends, passenger demand, and economic factors to assess the feasibility of new routes.


  • Evaluate the impact of new routes on existing flight and crew schedules/pairings.



Prepare Operating Statistics and Forecasts:


  • Develop and maintain operating statistics related to Flight Operations, Flight Support and OCC - and resource utilization.


  • Generate forecasts for various operational aspects, including passenger demand, fuel consumption, and crew availability.



Network Design and Optimization:


  • Collaborate with teams to design and optimize our network.


  • Improve resource allocation, enhance security measures, reduce costs, and maximize overall network performance.


  • Ensure that network modifications align with customer satisfaction goals and contribute to a competitive edge.



New Route Forecasting and Profitability Modeling:


  • Utilize forecasting models to predict the potential success and profitability of new routes.


  • Conduct thorough profitability analyses considering factors such as operating costs, market demand, and competitive landscape.



Network Strategy and Architecture:


  • Develop and implement strategic plans for our network.


  • Design network architecture to align with the company's long-term goals and competitive positioning.



Tracking and Analysis:


  • Provide analysis, insights and recommendations to maintain or enhance the airline's competitive position.



Fleet Allocation and Optimization:


  • Optimize fleet utilization through effective allocation strategies.


  • Analyze and recommend adjustments to the fleet composition based on market demand and operational efficiency.



Short-Term Capacity Planning:


  • Conduct short-term capacity planning by analyzing factors such as day of the week, time band, and aircraft gauge.


  • Ensure that capacity meets demand and aligns with operational goals



Operations Research (OR) Integration:


  • Evaluate the applicability of Operations Research (OR) in problem-solving scenarios.


  • Collaborate with decision-makers to implement mathematical models that enhance decision-making processes.



We are looking for:

  • Advanced degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Advantage if the profile has eexperience or knowledge in the aviation industry with a focus on network planning and optimization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in mathematical modeling and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting findings and recommendations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Candidates must be able to work and reside in Denmark without company sponsorship
