Innovation Manager


Do you have a keen interest in gathering, generating and facilitating new creative ideas for new products or business areas, and do you enjoy scoping the projects and business cases influencing the strategic direction for the company? And are you willing to join a truly global market leader committed to deliver high quality solutions? Then take a closer look at this position in the Business Development organisation at Struers. This part of the Business Development organisation is leading the ideation and innovation projects and drives the scoping part of the projects before handing it over to Product Management. This part of the organisation is key to maintain Struers global leadership within the industry.

You will be part of a team of 3 dedicated colleagues. One of your primary tasks are to make sure that Struers have a robust pipeline of scoped projects – with a valid assessment of the business case ready for the stage gate model in R&D. You will work across the different business areas, using your business acumen to achieve a solid market understanding. You will, together with the subsidiaries, R&D, Product Management and customers, generate new ideas based on customer needs and benefits. You can drive ideas and business cases in different areas such as new products or services, business models or new markets.

The stakeholders around you are the subsidiaries, product management, application specialists, customers, R&D and the corporate management team.

Other responsibilities and tasks:

  • Present your results and provide recommendations to Corporate Management.
  • Provide guidance to the Product Management team in the initial phases of the development process.
  • Work closely with key leaders in the organization in the roll-out of strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct market studies and identify new growth opportunities
  • Drive strategic projects that involves a high degree of novelty – new markets, new product category, new business model
  • Facilitate innovation workshops

Your key success criteria are to generate a number of valid and scoped projects across the business areas, making sure that they will substantially influence the global business. You will anchor the customer involvement activities contributing to the market orientation of Struers.

Experience and personal qualifications

You bring to the position a relevant master’s degree in Economics or Engineering, and you combine your theoretical background with at least 5 years of relevant work experience in larger organizations. Besides being a highly skilled global product manager, innovation manager or business development manager, your experience also includes technical understanding combined with solid customer-oriented skills. Alternatively, you have a few years of experience from a top management consulting firm, and want to grow your career further in a globally oriented company

Your experience and skillset give you the ability to understand the customer needs that drive innovation, and develop comprehensive business cases, that can be used to size new business opportunities. You have experience from leading ideation processes and the front-end of innovation projects, and you have skills within project management. It is natural for you to present your analysis, findings and recommendations in a clear and convincing manner. Should you have commercial and/or technical understanding of industries like Automotive, Aerospace, Manufacturing and Electronics then this is a plus.

You have excellent communication skills and it is natural for you to present your analysis, findings and recommendations. You have a high proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and other relevant tools. The role also requires you to be fully proficient in English.

On a more personal level, you are a natural networker who easily builds up relationships within the organisation through results, credibility and trust. Furthermore, you are a self-starter with a ‘can do’ attitude and a strong ability to deliver quality solutions in time. You are a natural project manager for your own projects, hardworking, practical, structured, have a hands-on approach to business and are not afraid to take on new tasks or operate in new areas under changing conditions. You are easy going, charismatic and likeable – and enjoys bringing new ideas to the table.
