About the department

You will be part of a group of 15 dedicated obesity employees, comprised of scientists, laboratory technicians and student workers. The team is located in DK and is working in close collaboration with our in vivo pharmacology sister department and our 40 obesity colleagues in Seattle. In our research area we have expertise within obesity biology and we are working on understanding the complexities of obesity, to generate new and optimized obesity therapies that we believe will make a difference for people living with obesity.

Temporary (2 years) full-time position in Obesity Biology

The holder of this position will contribute to obesity innovation by identifying and exploring new targets and principles to treat obesity. You will join a team of dedicated in vitro scientists that all work on specific scientific questions in relation to obesity. The key scientific responsibilities include providing scientific direction as well as designing, coordinating and executing on biological experiments. The position will involve in vitro target validation, target maturation and evaluation of drug candidates including mode-of action studies in collaboration with our in vivo pharmacology sister department. This position requires hands-on experiments to address the specific questions to lift obesity innovation. The position will require significant interaction and collaboration with scientists within as well as outside the function, so strong stakeholder management skills are required. In addition to driving research within a specific scientific question, you will get experience in general drug discovery research. You will together with experienced scientists be supporting obesity projects feeding into our diversified obesity project pipeline.

Start date: October 1st, 2020

A Danish full-time work permit is required - if you are not at EU citizen, please note that the authorities´ processing time to grant a work permit is approximately 2 months.

Qualifications

We are looking for a scientist who is passionate about obesity biology and pharmacology and have a PhD degree in Cell Biology, Human Biology, Biochemistry, or a similar field of studies. Documented scientific excellence within obesity, the metabolic syndrome, molecular biology, endocrinology and/or neuroendocrinology is a must, with hands-on experience with receptor pharmacology such as in vitro models (binding/functional assays) and establishment of robust in vitro assays. Experiences with bioinformatic and data analysis is an advantage.

We expect you to be fluent in English, be able to manage multiple activities in parallel and have a sound personal judgement to take decisions during your daily work.
