About the department GDD Business Support is a central function supporting several areas in ‘Research & Early Development’ at Novo Nordisk. As Director of Business Support GDD, you will define, develop and execute effective strategies for facilitating that our research departments work efficiently while complying with relevant external requirements and internally agreed standards. The department is also supporting business ethics aspects, data privacy/GDPR and compliant use of human bio samples and animal by-products. Furthermore, the team is involved in outsourcing and global shipping in relation to our global research activities. The position You will take leadership of the GDD Business Support department, which is a team of 15 colleagues with diverse backgrounds. You and the team will be responsible for risk-balanced quality and compliance management to ensure the efficient conduct of scientific activities in the areas you support. This includes GLP, pharmacovigilance and compiling of non-clinical documents for regulatory authority submissions, and maintenance and optimisation of our internal Quality Management System across relevant research functions. You will be an inspirational leader who coaches, motivates and develops the scientific, administrative and technical experts in the department. You will challenge the status quo and nurture an environment that encourages creativity and innovation and a pragmatic risk-balanced compliance mindset. Close and constructive collaboration with colleagues, including leaders from a range of scientific disciplines and organisations, is essential to success. You build and maintain trusting relationships and facilitate cross-functional collaboration through flexibility and co-creation with stakeholders in- and outside Novo Nordisk. Qualifications You have a university degree within life sciences (biomedicine, pharmaceutical science, biotechnology, biology, etc.), a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience working within research or development in the pharmaceutical industry and at least 3 years of documented leadership experience. Specific, practical knowledge within relevant compliance related aspects of research will be a clear advantage. In addition, we expect you to have:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leadership
  • You are fluent in oral and written English
  • You thrive working in a complex inter-disciplinary organization exerting your personal power to influence and you find it easy to retain focus
  • Strongly collaborative approach, engagement and an open mind, combined with a determination to make a difference
