The position In Cell Therapy analytics, we develop different types of analytical methods such as molecular biological, electrophysiological, flow cytometry- and image-based assays, all aimed at analyzing the quality and functionality of the cell products we produce. The position as Associate Scientist in our team includes:
• Planning, execution, and monitoring of experiments.
• Combination of desk-based preparation and hands-on work in analytical laboratories.
• Analysing experimental results to develop, troubleshoot, optimize, and qualify analytical methods for our cell therapy products and projects.
• Cross-functional work in project teams, sharing tasks and knowledge with colleagues from Cell Therapy Research and Cell Therapy Manufacturing. Qualifications You hold a master’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, life science or similar discipline and have hands-on laboratory experience with various analytical methods such as cell counters, particle sizers, PCR-based and flow-cytometry methods. It is important that you are interested in, and motivated by, working in the lab.
The ideal candidate in addition has:
• Knowledge of electrophysiological, and imaging-based techniques.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask and contribute to multiple projects under demanding timelines with an attention to details and a drive for problem solving.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Prior experience in working with stem cells, particularly human pluripotent stem cells, will be a strong plus.
• Experience in working within a CMC environment, developing, and qualifying analytical assays.

About the department The department Cell Therapy Analytics and Formulation is part of Novo Nordisk’s Cell Therapy R&D unit, where we develop novel cell replacement therapies for the treatment of serious chronic diseases. Our team focuses on delivering analytical support to cell therapy -process development, -formulation development and -device development and then we develop, troubleshoot, optimize, qualify and tech transfer new analytical methods for our cell therapy products and projects. The analytical methods developed and qualified in our department are transferred for validation in our production sites in the US (California and New Hampshire). As such, we create analytical data and documentation supporting processes across the entire pluripotent stem cell workflow, starting with pluripotent cell line derivation, and ending with an efficacious and well-characterised process and cell-based product. Type 1 Diabetes, Parkinson’s disease and chronic heart failure are some of the indications we are currently working on. You will join an international and dedicated department of around 25 employees, including scientist and laboratory technicians.
