The Associate Professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • research, including publication/academic dissemination in the fields of:
    • mass spectrometry(MS)-based analysis of ancient and degraded proteins,
    • protein sequence-based phylogenetic inference on extinct species that lived in time periods and geographic areas incompatible with ancient DNA preservation
    • identification of protein remains present in cultural heritage
    • metaproteomic analysis of ancient samples to reconstruct: (i) palaeoenvironments, as well as diet and disease in ancient humans and fauna
    • palaeopathology
    • characterization of chemical damage in ancient proteins
    • high throughput identification of sex, biological species, and/or protein damage in large samples sets
