Neuroscience research laboratory at the Copenhagen University Hospital Bispebjerg is looking for a senior researcher with experience in stereology
At the Research Laboratory for Stereology and Neuroscience, we have an open position available as a senior researcher. Start August 1th 2021 or soon thereafter.
We are a research group aiming at understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms behind movement disorders such as Parkinson, atypical parkinsonism disorders, as well as other brain related disorders such as schizophrenia. We examine brain tissue from deceased patients and use stereological-based approaches combined with molecular biology analysis of brain and blood samples. The laboratory administers a large brain collection and works closely with clinicians at the Department of Neurology at Bispebjerg Hospital. In addition, the research laboratory participates in the Center for Translational Research, which is a research center connecting different research units at Bispebjerg Hospital. We are looking for a senior researcher who will take on the responsibility for developing further the stereology-based research in the laboratory. The person will also be responsible of integrating the stereology research with the molecular based research.

We are looking for a person with the following qualifications,
- PhD or equivalent in biological sciences and research qualification corresponding to at least senior researcher/assistant professor level
- Extensive experience and documented scientific output within stereology and neurodegenerative diseases
- Experience with brainbanking, postmortem studies and neuropathological examinations
- Experience with molecular biology analyses
- Experience from an international research environment
- Experience with writing funding grants
- Supervising experience
- Strong knowledge of data science is an advantage.
- Strong organizational and collaborative skills
- Strong communicator in English, written and oral.
We expect you will
- Participate in defining the laboratory's vision and strategy in collaboration with the head of laboratory and the other senior researchers
- Establish new projects as part of the laboratory's overall vision and strategy
- Establish interdisciplinary and translational research projects in collaboration with the clinicians
- Be involved in running and further developing the Bispebjerg BrainBank
- Take responsibility in applying for project funding
- Recruit, mentor, supervise, and support graduate and PhD students, pursuing their Master and PhD degrees.
